Iguana New York

With all the dining experiences I've had in the city, and there have been many, Iquana has been one of my favorites . We love everything about it. So many mexican restaurants are over rated and over priced and a big let down when you get there. Iquana is not one of them!

My boyfriend and I had a great night at Iguana. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We enjoyed watching the guacamole appetizer and the fresh fruit dessert flambe prepared tableside. After dinner, we went down to the nightclub and danced until 4am. We highly recommend Iguana and we will certainly be back again soon.

Thanksgiving weekend had us settled in at the Ameritania and next to Iguana. We ate their twice. The staff was welcoming to a large brood ranging in age from 14 months to 76 years. The tableside guacamole was excellent and the menu choices value driven and exceptional in taste. The calamari was great and the steak was so large that even my ex football player brother-in-law could barely finish. On Thanksgiving Day, they had a $20 Thanksgiving Turkey special that we decided to try. The best turkey - moist with an excellent gravy ( more like an au jus) . The stuffing sounded a bit strange but was great- made of corn tortilla and chorizo, it was light and seasoned to perfection. Sweet potatoes, baby spinach and cranberry sauce rounded out the entree. Starters were a choice of Ceaser salad ( just a tad too much dressing), field greens or a sweet potato soup ( excellent). For dessert, made on the premise pumpkin pie ( light and tasty) and an apple pie in what seemed like a shortbread crust were superb. the staff could not have been nicer to us. We are in NYC a lot and will come back here again!!

I have been to Iguana numerous times, and each time gets better. The food is not your ordinary Mexican fare. My friend and I ate there one Saturday afternoon this past August (late lunch) when the restaraunt was quiet (in between lunch and dinner crowds). We were lucky enough to meet John Secada who was playing in Cabaret next door. He was walking by our table, I said hello, so he stopped talked to us for a few minutes. It was really nice! The waiters are always nice, and they even recognize now when we visit.

The food is really good, although the service is extremely slow. But it's defintely worth going to "Iguana" just to see the inside of the restaurant. It has a really nice atmoshphere and it's beautiful.
