Full Disclosure: I'm a fan of Ici and have prior experience with the new cheeses on the cheese plate. A friend told me the cheeses were changed recently. So, I sampled the plate. Much improved. Enough cheese to feed two or more.

After hearing about this place for a year, I finally got around to going for dinner on Friday. The backyard is nice, if a little dark. The servers were nice too (e.g. offering a free taste of a wine I wasn't sure about) but they got totally slammed around 9 and after our entrees were cleared it took over an hour to get dessert and our check. Food: The vegetarian rigatoni was lovely, the watermelon salad with feta was decent (not the greatest melon), the hangar steak was too buttery and rich for me but had good flavor. The ratatouille was excellent (available as a decent-sized side). Do not spring for the cheese plate- the selection was utterly unremarkable and three choices for $18 is a big ripoff, as far as I'm concerned. Verdict: I'll definitely go back, but it's not as consistently great as Luz or Abistro.

It is not a bad stop all in all, but it is not a good stop either... The folks from Tillie's need some place to go at night.

Went 3 weeks ago. So having heard so much buzz thought brunch would be a no fail bet..was I ever wrong..after being seated and waiting i think 10 minutes to get a menu(which we had to ask for) and waiting another 15 minutes to order(which we had to ask for) and noticed 2 tables who sat after us having their order taken..we finally ordered..i had the eggs with hash..my husband had some french toast...after waiting another 15 my eggs sunny side up arrived hard ...after asking for a return..they arrived hard and over easy...aside from the very rude and inattentive staff who look and behaved like confused college students a little too doped up and underdressed for my taste the food just plain was inedible..the hash looked and tasted like alpo in a can.

I just moved to NYC from New Zealand where you can find great fresh & seasonal food in relaxed restaurants, and I found that in NY, restaurants tend to try too hard...But thanks god, I just found ici (which happens to be 4 blocks away from my house, hourray!) which is exactly what I look for in a restaurant: really reliable, fresh, seasonal, relaxed.... It's great for all occasions: I go and work there on my computer in the morning, I can take my girlfriend for a romantic dinner or have brunch with friends at the weekend.

I've been going to Ici ever since it opened 2 years ago, and I love it! And yes, do believe the Zagat review, but do not believe people who pretend to know their stuff and who actually don't! The food is ever-reliable, all organic, sourced locally which justifies the fact that they are slightly more expensive than the other restaurants in the neighborood. They find the right balance in providing quality food, prepared with skills, and a lot of respect for the produce in a relaxed setting without stuffiness. I could name dozens of places in town that charge twice the price for food half as good. Another rare thing in Brooklyn, they have a very stylish private room above the restaurant that is really unexpensive to hire, I had my baby shower there, it was great.

Crescendo volumes at this neighborhood spot which has decent food. I was surprised that they didn’t charge for the water, but thank God for the skate. it is worthy. Sides are good, if a bit pricey and they help the check grow and grow and grow. The food is generally o.k. but not a 21. Breakfast and Brunch menus are good. But it’s the mediocre service that is difficult. For this money I would prefer a waiter or waitress without jeans, thank you very much. A fairly bright cave like space, it is loud! And you can really get intimate, whether you want to or not, with the party next to you. You have to ask yourself how experience restaurateurs don’t see this stuff in their place. good they have a garden in summer.
