    Slow delivery

Ridic service and the delivery guy ran away because he wanted to catch the elevator but no apology for bringing subpar food two hours after I ordered! I called and the woman on the phone was just as useless.

Reliable, good delivery - what else do you need?

I'm Japanese and a lifelong New Yorker, and admittedly a bit of a food snob. I care about authenticity, consistency, quality. From the outside, this place looks questionable but it's consistently good on all fronts food-wise - sushi, udon, tempura, katsu - so I've been ordering delivery here for years now. I want to give them serious props since they are quick to deliver and the temperatures are never off. If they changed the decor it could easily become pretty popular, but it's almost better as it is now, which is the perfect delivery spot. Recommend their chicken katsu, sushi, and tempura udon (although just a warning for die-hards, they put non-traditional veggies in the udon/soba soups, which isn't my favorite, but my health-freak side wins out and let's this slide).

    no good

tried this place for lunch today for the first time. big disappointment. i was picking up the food, and they told me 15 minutes. i got there in 15 minutes, waited another 15 before my food came out. the fish was poorly cut (lots of rough, hanging edges, appearance made it unappetizing) and the sushi was poorly assembled and falling apart. the miso soup was bland - not just lacking salt, but just way too dilute. for previous posters who were impressed and anyone looking for sushi in this neighborhood, i'd strongly encourage you to try any of the places on 7th avenue around 21st st (don't remember names). they're far, far better than this place.

    Fast delivery, Fresh Sushi

I ordered some rolls for my dinner at a Chelsea hotel and got a really fast delivery within 20minutes. The fish was fresh and the Sushi delicious! Would recommend!

    Great food, great prices

This place is a new treasure for Chelsea and I hope it is here for many years to come. I'm an avid sashimi fan -- so one day rather than brave the line at Whole Food (my former default choice), I decided to try their sashimi lunch plate. OMG -- it was the BEST I've ever had -- fantastic variety and quantity and quality at a price that is much better than Whole Foods. Then one day for no apparent reason, I decided to try their Sushi lunch special -- 3 rolls for $11.95 or 2 rolls for $8.95 (less 10% thru end of September). Yummy squared. Salmon Avocado, Spicy Yellowtail, and Vegie Tempura rolls -- among another dozen or so choices -- plus a side salad or soup. And if I feel like spending a little less, I can always buy an 8 piece roll of 1 type for $4-$5. Their tempura is also great. Sadly, their teriyaka and hibachi are not up to par with the rest of their cuisine, so if that's your pleasure, you've been warned. I almost always take out food (because my company is next door), but I have also taken people to eat in -- and I think the place is very clean, quiet and welcoming. The only real downside of Ichiban is their staffing. Some of their staff are very nice -- especially one of the servers, but at least one of their staff who does the phone and cash register is horrible (both in attitude and in English). This is something I wish they would fix because I do find it a turnoff -- and I average 4 meals a week since Ichiban opened. Truth be told, I continue to put up with their phone person because their food and prices are so good.

    Food Good, Room Depressing

tuna, hamachi, white tuna and king crab sashimi, then an order of wasabi shumai. All of the food was surprisingly good -- the fish fresh and tender. The shumai, though overpriced, was powerful and almost made me cough (it was served AFTER the sushi, which is the way to go because the wasabi can dull the taste of the fish). The restaurant itself is sad and dull and the waitresses and sushi chefs look like they are working their way through soul-crushing depression. I just tried to concentrate on ho good the raw fish was.
