    Special Lunch for Remarkable Event

I decided to hold my "post-swearing in to the NY bar" luncheon here with 16 of my closest friends and family and have only extraordinary things to say about I Trulli, the service, the people, the food, the chef and total experience. First, we had one long, Tuscany inspired table in a separate space that was open to the dining room but private, perfect for my loud family. Second, when the catering manager learned that one of my relatives wanted chicken as one of the four menu choices, he spoke with chef and they created a lovely dish that was not included on their regular restaurant menu. Third, the wine and champagne pairings were delightful, as were the seasonal dessert options (my event was in mid September). Fourth, the catering manager was sweet enough to print out the luncheon's custom menu in-house on handmade paper for a VERY affordable price. Finally, the food was DIVINE - I had lambchops which were perfectly prepared. A grand time was had by all and I have returned multiple times since (before a night of jazz at the Jazz Standard) to an equally wonderful time.

    Like Italy

I Trulli is as close to a real Italian restaurant as you can get in New York (except that the portions are a lot bigger.) Beautiful back garden; extraordinary wine list; amazing homemade pasta. From my first visit they made me feel at home, which is undoubtedly why I come back over and over.

    Authentic southern Italian

We went during 2012 ny resturant week, and had the set dinner menu. Having travelled to Italy many times, i trulli really did feel authentic, and the food and service backed this up. The garden area is really nice. It's a little pricey, but the portions are a good size and tasty, we will be back.

    Surprise. Surprise.

I was invited to I Trulli and after i googled it, i was immediately freaked out by the inconsistent reviews but man was I surprised! The place has a great vibe, our waiter was so gracious and food was awesome! I had the pasta with rabbit ragu, I may never eat boxed pasta again, and my date had the fish special, so yummy. Going back in 2 weeks.

    Bad food and service

They serve stinky fish. I even asked the waiter before I ordered to make sure the fish came in that day. He gave me a very long speech explaining how fresh their fish is. Anyway it came completely inedible. I also ordered a couple of very nice red wines for our table. After our waiter opened the bottle and poured me a glass he said, this won't go with your meal at all. I'm assuming he was trying to sell me a white wine but after ordering two very expensive bottles from him I was quite annoyed by this comment. Also the bartender, when I was inquiring about his wines by the glass, was very quick with me (even though I was the only person sitting at the bar) and flippantly recommended the most expensive glass at $20. It was annoying as I was trying to get some sense of the different types they were offering. I would not go back here.

    not recommended

This was the worst dinner I've had in NYC in 14 years of living here and entertaining business clients often. There was nothing I ate over 4 courses that I would ever make me come back to this restaurant. Sad antipasti, tough gnocchi, worst chicken of my life and dessert that was ho-hum. Topped off by lousy coffee and overly marked up cheap wine. Skip it, spend your money somewhere else.
