not worth looking at the menu

I ordered breakfast one morning from here - a standard sausage, egg and cheese on a roll and orange juice which came to a whopping $8! Not only was I shocked at the price the service on the phone was horrible and rude and when receiving my sandwich I was surprised that it was merely an egg, slice of cheese and a sausage patty barely filling up the roll. Ever since the change in ownership years ago the quality over all has gone down significantly. I believe the only reason why this business is making money is the location next to the college and the revenue made off the porters in the area.

Not worth it, over priced and poor quality

I ordered a sausage, egg and cheese on a roll with an orange juice - simple enough. A) it was $6.80! and B) it was the cheapest looking sandwich I have ever seen. The contents were so small they hardly filled up half the roll; it seemed to be a small patty, one egg and a slice of craft. Found it to be a rip off. I have gone in to order before and customer service skills are severly lacking; I asked for something to be added to my order and was met with grunts and the sucking of teeth. A prime example of a business thriving off it's location and the necessity of those in the community and providing poor service across the boards.

    Don't spend time or money

Listen there are deli out there that treat the customers better, espicially when ording and there food is not all that .. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to put ham and cheese together, or how to threw olives in a bowl.

    New Management = Poor Management

We work on UES at a local store. in the same area. We have ordered from Hunter at least 5 to 6 times a week, for over a decade. Sometimes we order twice a day. New management is poor, phone order guy is rude. They get our order wrong everyday. Something is always missing or something is just made completely wrong. When you call back, they DON'T care. Sometimes they even try to make it your fault. So why do we continue to order? Because there is not a lot of mid-priced deli variety in the neighborhood. Neil's is expensive and not much better. My advice if ordering is repeat the order to the guy twice AND make him repeat it back to you. But it will probably still be wrong anyway. The only upside is... it is a decent basic NY deli. Food is always fresh and tasty. This is not gourmet food, but if they get your order right, it is a good meal. Also, their homemade soup is excellent (if it is not over salted). They just need to get there act together and they will be SO much better. Try a little kindness and organization guys! Good luck!

    subpar

The service here is bad. Took over an hour and when I called they said it would be another 15 mins. Not the first time delivery has been over an hour (i live a block away...). Dont bother, order from somewhere else you'll be better off

(after the new management) not great!

I used to shop at Hunter deli for years. I work in the area so I loved the convenience. But in the last two years I have been totally turned away from them. They switched management and have over priced me over and over. I watched as the workers took off one slice of cheese from my sandwich after another one had placed two slices. Their skimpy food doesn't stand out from the better places to eat in this area of manhattan. I order a bacon egg and cheese one visit its around 5 dollars, the next 7 dollars. They have gotten gradually worse and worse with time. The employees bark and scream at you like they have the right to look down at you, and now that those guys got fired (go figure) the awful blasting of the radio in the morning is just what I don't want.
