Since there are no better alternatives for Chinese food, we keep trying Hunan Balcony's take-out but must say we have been consistently dissapointed the last 3 times and will try no more. The food is greasy, the chow fun had no variety of vegetables and no flavor the diced chicken wit orange flavor which had been very good the last time weordered was not good. Seems the flavoring is inconsistent and last nights scallion pancake was actually raw inside. Although they were polite in willing to pick it up and refund my money it was the final last straw in our attempt to use this restaurant again. No more.

I like this place. I've ordered from there a few times. Delivery takes a while to 192nd, but I can live with that. The food is not the absolute best Chinese, but it is nothing something that you would eat and absolutely hate. It's good for the price, and I recommend it -- especially when you're tired of everything in the area.

Hands down some of the best Chinese food around. We've only ordered in, which is fast, easy and absurdly efficient. The food is delivered quickly, always hot, and they've been right 100% of the time thus far. You get a lot of food for your money, and a couple of feel-good freebies. Couldn't recommend it more.

The only thing I have ordered is sushi, and it is good, especially for the price. I recommend the house special roll and the east roll.

I am not sure what all the complaining is about. The food there is so good. The fried rice is to die for, the ribs are great, they have a chinese brocolli thats delicious. The waiters are friendly and many times I have ordered food for delivery from there and they have NEVER gotten my order wrong and no matter howlong it took to get there ( I live on 111th Street in Harlem), the food was hot and worth the wait, no too many restaurants even want to deliver to this area! And in response to the employee's statement on here, you guys are wonderful, kind, and very professional, whether I am eating in, picking up take out, or ordering. Kepp it up Hunan!

i am confused by all these mediocre reviews -- hunan balcony is the best chinese place on these upper west side. they have consistently good food and very quick service (in house and delivery). maybe you all just don't know what to order? the hunan style chicken is to die for, and anything with the black bean sauce is amazing too. i eat here 2-3 times a week because it's so delicious. don't believe all the hostility...

After seeing some reviews I'm just here to clarify some stuff. I am a worker at the hunan balcony, There are many misconceptions when people receive the wrong orders or complain about the wrong wait time. First I am not a waiter, I take the phone calls for delivery. I'm am here to defend myself and that of my co-workers. As for the waiter, busboy, and food I can't really say much about it. First deliveries might take a long time because the delivery boys like to wait for orders to come together before they deliver to save on gas and time. Going to and back from places like 150-200st take a long time is what they say. Deliveries and orders are made via computer so there's bound to be hardware and printer problems. Also the people who answer the phones talk really fast because they don't want to waste too much time on one line and keep other customers waiting. Personally I try to verify and repeat orders in order to not make mistakes. But every so often there are mistakes and for that we apologize. But it is not always the fault of the person who took the order. It may be the fault of the person who took the order if they took the wrong order. That's why when people get their food they should check the receipt that's stapled to the brown paper bag. If the order is right and the food is wrong it is the fault of the people who bagged the food. If there are sodas missing which happen sometimes there is credit given back for your next order and a reminder is placed on the computer or we just deliver the soda but people have to consider the time it takes to deliver. If the food is wrong the managers try to rectify it by telling the chefs to make the correct food and send it back out to the customer then bring back the wrong one. Before calling back and screaming at us poor messengers please stay calm so we can come to some sort of agreement. If an agreement can't be made, then you scream.
