Hummus Kitchen

I too am amazed at the negative reviews (some people are just impossible to please, I guess). Had brunch here yesterday with my hard-to-please husband and it was delicious. We're not kosher (not even Jewish), but that didn't matter a whit, the food was wonderful. The service was beyond excellent. It was a little crowded and noisy, but that's typical for the UWS brunch rush. Very clean, nice decor. We loved it and we will be back!

My husband and I were excited to take his parents to Hummus Kitchen, especially since it is a Kosher restaurant. We were extremely disappointed. When we arrived, they said they'd bring us a high chair for our 1 year old. We waited at least 10 minutes for the high chair as well as to receive menus. We then waited another 10 or so minutes before anyone came to take our order. Friends of ours walked by on the street while we were sitting outside waiting for our food and we got up to say hello. The restaurant started to clean off our table before we had even had any food. The service was just poor and chaotic. We ordered 3 appetizers and they gave us 1 piece of pita bread and then told us we'd need to pay for each additional piece. It seemed very odd when we ordered 3 things. When the food finally arrived, the couscous on my in-laws plates was cold. My kebab wrap was nothing to write home about and completely overpriced for what it was. The restaurant knew that we were not happy with our experience and offered us a complimentary piece of baklava due to what they labeled "a chaotic evening." They gave us 1 piece for 4 people. It was almost insulting - not to mention underwhelming. We will not be returning unfortunately.

Food is ok. Delivery service is poor. First time I ordered their phone was disconnected and had to call another location to check on my order. Second time I placed the order through their website because of the phone problems, received a delivery confirmation via email, then waited over an hour for my food, which never came. When I called I was told it was my problem for using the website, and that the things I'd ordered off the menu weren't even available that day. No apologies and they even hung up on me twice when I called to resolve the situation! Rude, incompetent service. Never again.

Great addition to the UWS. The food is so fresh, the menu is fun, the service is wonderful. The hummus is very good but my nod for Hummus still goes to Hummus Place. Love this spot.
