    A heartwarming place

In my opinion Hudson Diner is perhaps the nicest diner in New York City. It's a very heartwarming place, really! The food is delicious (I'd especially recommend the lox bagel or the egg salad sandwich which was just heavenly!), the service is wonderful and homely (the owner lady is such a nice person) and overall visiting Hudson Diner is a great experience. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in NYC!

    good food!

Great lunches and quick dinners. The food always has a fresher, more homemade taste than you would generally expect from a diner. I think they have a good thing going. I'm getting used to sub-standard fast food living here in NY, and it's nice to know where the good spots are.

Food not worth consuming after Hangover

I went there to order food to go, and while the food was promptly given to me, the food was horrible when I ate it back at my office. I ordered the Chicken Caeser Wrap and the wrap was very dry because there wasn't any dressing, leaving me to find dressing to put in it. And THEY NOT ONLY FORGOT DRESSING, but the chicken was also too dry, adding to the dryness of the wrap. It was yucky. I had to chew gum to get the taste out of my mouth. I'm never going there again.

    Go old school

The Hudson is a good down-to-earth old fashioned diner. The fare is solid and reasonable.

Superb Food at VERY Reasonable Price

In the 1980s and mid 1990s the Hudson was the ONLY place a friend and I would have dinner before coming back to Trenton, New Jersey, after visiting museums, an auction house and maybe getting a haircut nearby. The place had a certain nostalgic something about it, we usually got the same waiter who knew us, and we even got the last of their T-shirts. I think they may have changed hands once or twice during that time. The food was ALWAYS done right, and there was plenty of it, from appetizers to salads (Greek is yummy) to main course, not to mention the wine! The bread was great and I always ordered more [did I mention the wine?] The cloth table covers were a homey plus, and sitting at the window allowed us to watch what was going on outside -- I am a practiced people watcher. Clients included yuppies, russian newcomers, a lot of old folks, and members of the gay community. NOT a lot of loudness at the tables, which was refreshing. I don't get out much any more, and cherish those times. When anyone asks me about a place to eat in the Village area, I always highly recommend the Hudson, and am glad I found this web page to be able to share my enthusiasm. I mentioned the diner a few times on my own web site over the years, and consider it a significant part of my overall Big Apple experiences back in those days. Hey, I remember a friendly CAT that used to come and sit on my lap! It was a biggie, very fuzzy, black and white as I recall. I think the smallish water closet (= bathroom) was unisex, directly across the narrow passageway from the kitchen -- the kitchen help was hispanic and I practiced my Spanish with them. Summing up my shaggy dog story, the Hudson was, and probably still is a fantabulous, friendly and surprisingly economical place to eat. And I always found parking within a block or two. There is nothing like it here in Trenton. GAWD, I really should try to get out more!

Fast, Cheap & Out of Control Flavor

OK, maybe "out of control" is an overstatement, but the food at Hudson Diner is consistently tasty in just the way you'd expect for a diner. There is almost no fathomable reason to visit the Hudson Diner in person; this place's forte is most definitely delivery. If you're going to make the effort to get dressed and go out, then for goodness sake, go elsewhere. But if you intend to spend your day in your bathrobe nursing a nasty hangover, or the weather is just too darn cold, then by all means, peruse the encyclopaedic menu and order up some respectably tasty diner grub. Out of the 25 times we' ve ordered, they were only very late once and most of the time, they get the food to your door in a shockingly short amount of time.
