Count your change
Take my advice, make sure to always count your change. I will never go back to this restaurant again and have since told all my friends about the incident where I was not given the right amount of change for a $100 bill.

The GO-TO place for Sesame Chicken!
My boyfriend and I have been coming here for 8 years and we love the people and the food. Order the sesame chicken, super crispy, and you have found heaven! It's the best in all of NYC and I've hunted, seriously. I'm the type of person that embarks on a 2 hour journey from Upper Manhattan to Flushing, Queens for black pepper steak and xiao long bao, soup dumplings, because it's the best. Same here, they have the BEST sesame chicken bar none and the cantonese style lobster is a major win. Service has always been friendly, almost familial and prompt with complimentary soups and desserts, though probably because we've been going there for years... Portions are ENORMOUS and very cheaply priced. These guys have NEVER skimp! Noodle soups and congee are average, but very well priced. The seafood pan-fried noodle is also the best in the area, especially at the price. Crispy and completely delectable. Overall, a clean place with very friendly people and great service for a super affordable price. You can also get roast duck and pork take out as they have a small butcher counter up front on top of the regular food take out. Very convenient if you wanted to mix up your own stuff at home for a cheap price. If you're looking for a gourmet Chinese restaurant, this isn't it. It's just good filling food that's not complicated but similar to what I'd find at home (I'm Chinese.)

not so good
Returned here for lunch with friends. Ordered salt & pepper crabs at 6 for $15--truly a bargain, if prepared well. Not done well tho--not crispy, lack of breading, not hot...all due perhaps to oil not being at correct temperature. Not overwhelming quantity even chopped up into smaller portions. Beef with bitter melon on rice is a litmus test; if a place can't do this well, look elsewhere. A couple of months ago I reported on the badly done takeout version. The eat-in version was no better. Skimped on sauce, not deep dark rich sauce but very little light sauce. Beef could've been fresher although there were decent portions of both beef and melon and this time less rice. Fried fish filletwith fried tofu was good and in decent portions. Sauce appeared to be adequate but not overflowing. Complimentary soup was tasty. Service like refilling tea, dessert (fortune cookies), bill was attentive, friendly and prompt. Decor is usual Chinatown drab and prices were very fair if not the cheapest (by a few cents). There are too many more decent places in Chinatown to return here.

Update on takeout
My review earlier was eat-in, this is about takeout. When taking it out, the rice dishes included far too much rice and too little main item. Beef & broccoli was only so-so. Beef with tomato over rice was bland--no black bean, flavor, no garlic taste tho both were in there. Eggplant ala carte was ordered without meat--it was good. Fried fish fillet with fried tofu was good but very little fish--all rice. A shrimp dumpling order offered six in a tasteless broth. Beef with bitter melon was OK, not as tasty as prepared at other places. Again rice was plentiful, main item scarce. Beef was not unfresh, but not tender as elsewhere. Chicken with pepper in black bean sauce was good but few chicken slices. Prices were average. You'd do better to eat in where duck and roasted items are their best items.

Been eating here for years
My Family and I have been eating at this place for 20 years. The food is great and they serve large portions. We usually get the crabs in black bean sauce..... its so good. It is very messy to eat as you have to use ur hands but its worth it. My dad always orders sweet and sour duck. They give a generous amount of duck, with pineapples and lychee. I also order the sweet and sour chicken. Sometimes it's hard to find a spor that makes the sweet and sour chicken just right but this place never fails. I have honestly never tasted such good sweet and sour chicken anywhere else. Now the service is good. At times it can be a little fustrating since the servers speak very little english. Just be patient as they may confuse crabs in black bean sauce with CLAMS in black bean sauce. Like I mentioned portions are big. so you can order a few things and share them amongst family or friends. Other then that they are very attentive and helpful. It's a small place full of large round tables..... not really big on decor. But you barely notice because you will be too busy looking at all the delicous food everyone else is eating. This is a must try place!

Excellent Value
Two of us came for late lunch on a weekday. My companion had shrimp omelette over rice huge omelette, tons of rice (and for those who should know, it does come with X at lunchtime). I had fried fish fillet cubes with fried tofu in black bean sauce over rice huge portion of rice, plenty of fish & tofu. Both dishes tasted great. Will return to try other dishes. Service was friendly. Prices cheap, altho there are other Chinatown places with even cheaper lunches. Small and shared table/ tight seating.

An excellent find in Chinatown!
While wandering around Chinatown one Saturday, an associate and I decided to try a new restaurant and when we came across Hsin Wong, we decided this would be it. The Saturday afternoon crowd consisted of large Chinese families and smaller parties sharing large round tables. The dining room is spare, with the requisite roast ducks in the front case where some of the food is prepared. The food at this place is phenomenal. We tried the "Chopped Beef Congee," which was delicious and ideal for a cold winter afternoon. Congee is rice porridge and it's flavoured very well here. They have several styles available and the Chopped Beef Congee was great. We also tried the Leek Pan Fried Noodles with Shredded Roast Pork and the Beef with Peppers in Black Bean Sauce over Rice. Both of these dishes were awesome and the pan fried noodles were crispy but not dry, which is rarely achieved among Chinese restaurants in NYC. The beef with peppers was also excellent and well seasoned, although a bit more typical of American Chinese food. On my next visit (the following Friday), I had the Sliced Beef Congee and Leek Pan Fried Noodles (without the Shredded Pork) and again, they were excellent. Other members of my party ordered Chicken with Peppers in Black Bean Sauce over Rice which looked quite good and Mei Fun, and needless to say, everyone was quite pleased with what they got. The dining room was much less crowded on Friday night, and now I would return just for the congee. The Roast Pork Omelet over Rice here is also excellent and is very much like Egg Foo Young, so again, typical to American Chinese food. The portions here are extreme so you will get a great value since most of the items on the menu are less than $10.00. This place is worth more than just one try...You'll want to return again to try everything on the menu. Try the congee! The wait staff is also very helpful and patient with people who don't know what certain things on the menu are or who may
