The veggie burger and vegetable platter were wonderful. Most restaurants treat vegetarians like second class citizens and barely offer palatable alternatives for non-meat eaters. It's embarassing when I have to "create" a vegetarian meal from the meat offerings at many places. The food was fresh, thoughtful and tasty and the presentation was very nice. The restaurant was a little dark for my tastes but the food was excellent and the server was respectful and quick. Go early for dinner on the weekend because there is a wait.

I eat out a lot. Many many restaurants, mostly in Long Island. It was a place we stumbled upon while waiting for a meeting. WOW, I had teh striped bass sandwich and holy smokes I wish I lived closer! My girlfriend had the tuna burger and it was outstanding! So fresh and appetizing! The service was "GOOD" teh waitress was sweet, but not a lot of experience. Thank you

I went to eat at Houstons with my sister and parents for my mother's birthday and it was absolutely amazing. I loved their sashimi and thai salads. Portions were quite big and the quality was wonderful. Service was quick and very very nice. You get what you pay for (which was a little pricey but maybe we all just ate too much) but I didn't mind at all. Reservations are a very good idea. We were seated in about 5 minutes. Others who walked in and didnt have reservations had to wait up to an hour. I would definitely go back again.

I am from California and have been going to Houstons forever. I love it so much that when I found out that Houstons existed on the East coast, I was thrilled! I was a little skeptical at first to see if the food was the same as the West coast...and sure enough it was fabulous just like usual. I always order the spinach artichoke dip and veggie burger and it is amazing. My friend, who I introduced to Houstons, is obsessed as well. We return almost every week for a great meal. Thanks Houstons!

My spouse and I dined at Houston's in the city on 10/22/06. Though the atmosphere was warm and wonderful, the pleasant experience ended there. The salad was wonderful however I was unable to finish a quarter of my salad before my steak arrived and was placed on the side without comment. My spouses soup arrived in a "bowl" that was truly a plate rather than a serving dish that would have provided an appropriate single serving. What was provided was about 3/4 a cup of soup that more of a sample than a bowl of soup. I had ordered the Hawaiian Ribeye and though I rushed to finish my salad, I gave up as my steak was getting cold. The ribeye though flavorful had more than the expected fat ribbon of a ribeye and so thin it was apparent that the original cut of meat had been sliced in two in order to make two steaks out of one. In addition our particular server kept us rushed and was never present when needed. She took our order and disappeared. We were forced to stop other waiters to ask for refills of coffee and water, butter for our bread, and other needs that are normally met at other establishments without request. We were constantly having to say "We know your not our waiter but would you mind getting us...." In the end, our waiter never returned and our check was brought to us by someone who never gave us their name. We left still hungry and frustrated. The experience left us offended and knowing that we would not return.

Everything about this place was great. It was my first time and I would go back over and over. The food was amazing!

I live in the neighborhood, so I've been here a few times with friends, family and my boyfriend. What I love is that the menu can accomodate me on my "good" days, when I want to eat healthy, as well as those days that I don't. How many steak-house-type restaurants offer veggie burgers, vegetable plates and rice and beans? The best service seems to be when I order food to eat up at the bar. The bartenders really earn their tips! Even when it's packed and busy, they're attentive and courteous, like refilling water glasses, and replacing soiled napkins. The value (keeping in mind that this is NYC - everything's relative!) is just right for what it is: a nice, friendly, yummy neighborhood restaurant that can please any palate. Nothing wrong with that
