    Don't believe the hype

This place is definetely overated. No drink menu, food not good, and it has a funny smell. Won't be back.

    I Don't Get It

The atmosphere is nice.. With that said I can't understand the good reviews and ratings this place is getting. Our waitress was rude and rushed us from the moment we sat down. She literally asked us 4 times if we were ready to order as we attempted to enjoy our beers while looking over the very small and limited menu. We all got the burger which turned out to be disappointing. Simply not that big for $14 a pop and they were covered with way too much cheese which wasn't even melted. I eat out plenty and simply don't get it...

    Great place

Overall i would say everything about the place was great. The light jazz and dim lighting made for a great place for a romantic dinner. I would highly recommend getting the bread with honey mustard sauce, probably the best I've ever had. The steak was great as well as the salads. The tuna sashimi was perfect. I had a great experience.

    OK but beware

First, the 'Today's Simple Grilled Fresh Fish - (Mkt)" entree is really good! very nice place to sit down and eat. And the waiter/ess are very polite and seem sincere in servicing you. Kudos! (Rare to find) I must say though I loved the small portions on the plate, it fills you up just enough to get you through the rest of the day especially for those on diets (not crash or starvation diets, but the healthy one). However, if you are one who money pinches or you're trying to be careful on how much money you're spending because you got bills and rent to pay, then you'll basically burn a hole right through your pockets where the money use to be! Very pricey! The salad or as I like to call it "Rabbit Food" cost the same amount as a entrees which I think is bad. If that's the case it better turn me into a rabbit and back human (ridiculous). The cheapest thing on the menu is the starters and side. If you're going to sit down and eat, make reservations ahead of time since shortly before 12pm and after 1pm is hectic. Most people say this place isn't a dressy place but let's face it, it really is because you have women mainly going there to find men (in which the restaurant does attract good looking men) or their next target only to punish them for later just for being a man. If you don't believe me, just go there and watch the way the most of the women dress when they enter and how they behave, it hilarious especially the group of friends. Good luck females, and men runnnn! Overall, this place is ok for a chain restuaraunt. Didn't even realize it was a chain until I researched it the first time I went there. And their burgers are good. That's about it basically. Now it's up to you to decide if you wanna go or not. So what will it be?

    World's Best Veggie Burger

truly the best veggie burger! I have tried many - this one is the most tasty. Mixture of black beans, oats, beets and seasonings. Get honey mustard and bbq sauce on the side. Have converted many meat eaters.

    27th Street vs 53rd Street

The difference between 27th street and 53rd street restaurants is ... 27th street is a training/ trying restaurant, that is why the service and food is slightly different. 53rd Street is old faithful.

Houston's at Park ave and 53rd st NYC

I loved the food at Houstons, and the very private atmosphere. The jazz band gave the restaurant a mature feel. The restaurant was crowded but the wait was only about 20 minutes. While waiting we were able to observe the chefs prepaing the food which was also nice. The food seemed pricy and the portions were small, also bread and salads were not presented before the meal, and only one side is offered with the entree. I would go to Houston's again and reccomend the asparagus as an appetizer.
