Always the Best
My husband and I have been going to Hop Kee since we have been together - well over 15 years and he has been going since he is a young boy. We live an hour out of NYC and everytime we take a trip down - we ALWAYS go to Hop Kee. BEST food in town - never a bad meal - I Swear by the Special house Fired Rice , Peking Pork Chops & Chicken w/Black Bean Sauce. Also food is very affordable as well. Keep up the great work.

Great Chinese Food
This use to be my place to go to when i use to live in NY but now that i live in NJ, i dont get to go to chinatown too often but when i was out last week, i went back and i was amazed to find the same waiters, cooks and the food was just amazing. the crabs are to die for, the ribs are unbelievable and my favorite, snails. Love this place!

Oh, Joshy boy... where did you go wrong?
Hop Kee is one of the best in Chinatown. The only bad thing is that the secret got out about this place a few years ago. Now there are too many people. Sure, Hop Kee is bad if you're looking for chicken chow mein and glow-in-the-dark sweetsour chicken like they serve next door but if you want excellent chinese food, look no further than Hop Kee. I suggest the fried flounder. Here's a clue for everyone including Josh... If you don't see any Chinese people at your Chinese restaurant (like the nameless place Josh likes), don't go expecting real chinese food.

Crabs Cantonese
I've been coming back to eat here for over 25 years even though I've moved from NY to Ca. and now Utah. I don't come here to order the usual Chinese dishes, but the special ones you won't find at the ordinary chow mien places. The best dish here is the Crabs Cantonese. It's difficult to eat,but the black been sauce is amazingly good. You can order Lobster Cantonese but the sauce is entirely different so order it with the black been sauce that comes with the crab. Also the #1 war wonton soup is practically a meal in itself with pork filled dim sims and roast duck. If you want to try something different but delicious then the snails in black bean sauce is also good. It's a different black bean sauce than the one for the crab. It's hot! I like to go at night when there's atmosphere place is full of some interesting people.

Chinatown's Finest
I have been going to Hop Kee for over 30 years now. It is one of the best restaurants in Chinatown and you will find something on the menu to love. Once you start eating at Hop Kee other Chinese restaurants will seem like a waste of time.

Lunch at Hop Kee 03/22/06
We had lunch at Hop Kee on the recommendation from a friend, and we were very pleased. The wontons were huge and crisp, and the platter of ten was only $4.75. The hot sour soup met our expectations and while it was different than the soup we get at home it was still excellent. The duck with pineapple and lychees was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Roast pork chop suey was pleasing, with tender pork and tender-crisp veggies. The service was adequate - this is a casual place so you will not have a waiter hovering over you during your meal. We found that a smile and kind word goes far here, and we were treated very well. We will definitely return on our next trip to NYC!
