Delicious and surprisingly good cocktails
going back in consecutive weeks must say something. awesome value, great service and surprisingly really interesting and great cocktails to boot. Every Asian and non-Asian palate is satisfied here - this is like NY's best kept secret!

Egggcellent Thai
Holy Basil is some of the best Thai I have had in NY and this is coming from a person who recently spent 2 months in Thailand in Vietnam eating nothing but those two cuisines. Like the decor, the only complaint is that it is definitely a little quiet in there. They are always more tan willing to add extra veggies to my curry which is a plus and they don'e charge extra! Also to the user below....Holy Basil TOTALLY delivers, I live upstairs and when I am sick I always order in they deliver no problem, and I have friends who live elsewhere in the EV and Holy Basil is the only Thai we ever order, so good news for you!

Best Thai in the village
I've eaten at virtually every downtown Thai restaurant. Holy Basil's food is BY FAR the best. No other downtown Thai place comes close...not to mention how much nicer their decor is. The ONLY reason I ever get Thai food from anywhere else, is that Holy Basil doesn't deliver. If they delivered, I'd honestly never get Thai from anywhere else.

Thai food should be flavorful, spicy, hot (temperature), savory, and mouth watering. This food was extremely disappointing! Do not be fooled by the pretty interior, or the nice staff. .

I thought I liked their food...
I've ordered from Holy Basil many times. So I had some vivid dreams after eating their food....kind of fun...chalked it up to the msg. But I thought their food was ok...so there was an occasion going their with friends when the soup was inedible...but mistakes happen. This time it was delivery. Have done it many times. The Pad-sea ew was ok....best thing we ordered, although the chicken was a bit tough and too large and a wee bit dry. The red curry with beef....the curry was ok but the beef was pretty nasty....none of us ate it....just didn't taste good. The spring rolls were a bit soggy from oil but tasted ok. The green papaya salad was ok but tasted like it had been soaking in it's own juices and sitting around for one hour too long. Price for the neighborhood is ok but with this many misses, don't think I'll be ordering from them again anytime soon.

poor food in a dark cave
The food was poor and not authentic. Nothing was good. The service took forever and the dishes were small and way too sweet. The lighting was desperate and faux romantic. Not recommended.
