What a suprise
I came to HK on a recommendation. I was hesitant about having a quality meal right next to the port authority, but I had no idea what was in-store for me. I was pleasantly suprised by the trendy but still tasteful decor, the attractive and still friendly wait staff, and the moderately priced but still well portioned and deliciously flavored food. The chocoalte souffle is too die for. I've since been back many times to experiment w/ the always palette pleasing specials, and even more recently to indulge in a little NYC night life at their newly opened lounge. You really do feel like a superstar fashionista in this place, the very minute you walk-in.

Slow service
A friend who lives in hells kitchen advised me about this restaurant... I initially loved the decor and the style.. it reminded me of cafeteria but only nicer! then we got greeted by a hostess who could care less where we sat or if we had water!....althought the food was to die for! then the waitress served us but messed up the order! she was watching tv and talking to the host the whole time! this looked more like a hang out then the workplace as i waited for my dirnk for about 20 minutes! its ashame because the drink was great and so was the food but i wont be returning i shouldnt have to wait on young kids to serve me properly. so i agree with the rest of the comments --The service leaves a lot to be desired.

Food and Atmosphere Were NYsophisticated
My friends and I needed to find a place on 9th avenue in the 30's and this is the place we ended up at...We picked it sight unseen, but it turned out to be a good gamble....Great place. Located in the heart of no where's ville,: in a region development hasn't reached yet, HK stands out as a beacon of sophistication. The glass exterior: the place is all glass, made me hope from a distance that was our pick...Inside, the bar is well stocked and unobtrusive, and the table all have small votive candles. Silent, flat screened tvs were showing a football game, which I have no interest in, so I was grateful for their invisibility factor. The food was good and sophisticated, which also means the portions could have been bigger....But what made the place great as opposed to good was the service. The waitstaff and bartender were very responsive and attentive. It felt like I was being entertained by friends. So an overall, good experience on the outskirts on Hell's Kitchen...The New ArtsTheater is two blocks away if you are looking for a show to see afterwards: 37th st. between 8th and 10th.

Great place
I had a terrific meal here and great service last night. Sesame crusted tuna with seaweed salad was inspired. Grilled Salmon was done perfectly. This place is not cheap, but when you are getting this level of food and service, it is worth it.

Great place
I had a great dinner here the other night, I rarely write reviews but after reading the negative reviews about service I had to comment, maybe these people went on a day when shorthanded or what not but my service was impeccable, and the food was amazing, love the outdoor seating, but it is not the best area for that since it is a high traffic area and on a busy night the horns and such were distracting from my beautiful date.

Best Brunch
HK is one of the best places to have brunch in NYC. The food is amazing, and the value is unbelievable. It's great for brunch on Sundays--all you can drink champagne, bellinis, bloody mary's, and mimosas for a small price. I would definitely recommend this to anyone going to the city. The service may be a little slow, but the food is definitely worth the wait.

Good vibe and atmosphere!
I love the atmosphere, location and the exterior and interior of the place. The service was actually really great- Food came all at the right time! I would definitely love to go back again. Just one small complain is the choice and volume of the music, it's not really a restaurant you can sit and chat.
