Hiro Sushi at Ollie's

Tasteless, poorly prepared. Shrimp weren't cleaned properly or peeled before dipping batter and frying. Yuk! Wasn't looking for fiber in that form. This place has really gone downhill. Won't be going back. Disappointing.

Used to be really good food, almost matching Ollie's great food. But the last couple of times it has been as if it was prepared in a great hurry. Chicken had no flavor of the sauce as if put in at the last minute rather than cooking in it. Eggplant was not cooked really soft as it used to be. Singapore noodles had no flavor one time and had almost no salt another time. The service is rude and you feel ignored. Shouldn't be this way considering the prices they charge. Wouldn't go there again and won't recommend it to anyone.

What a thoroughly disappointing dining experience! They made an error in the order. When we decided to try it anyway, we found the chicken loaded with fat and tough, with overcooked, stringy vegetables. And when we tried to get the order corrected, they were rude. We're just mild-mannered westsiders, wanting reasonable food and service. We'll never, every go there again.

I have been a fan of Ollie's at their other locations for many years, and miss their Lincoln Center location very much since it closed. This new location is out of the way, but when I found myself in the neighborhood recently, I was excited to check it out, and went with a group of four. It was an off hour and fairly quiet in the restaurant. Nonetheless, we were virtually ignored by our waiter; a problem which persisted throughout the meal. We had to track him down to ask a question about the menu, he walked away mid-sentence before another person could also ask a question. We had to track him down to order. He served soup as our appetizer but brought no spoons. We were never offered any noodles for the soup. We were never offered any tea. We had to track him down for spoons. When he finally brought them, he didn't bring enough for everyone who ordered soup and we had to get up and go find him to get his attention to get the other spoon. We had to track him down for the check to pay. He never brought us fortune cookies when he presented the check. And the food was quite mediocre -- not at all the good food that I remember from the other Ollie's I've been to. The other people with me were disappointed in their meals, too. I will never go back to this location.

While a bit out of the way for some, this is a restaurant you will want to go out of your way for. The service was top notch, and the food was fresh, and tasty. This is my first review ever, but I felt the need to say something, because it was worth it! Best Chinese on the Upper West Side hands down. (will try their sushi next visit)
