Great experience by an Ohio guy

I was there ine June "10 on a visit to see my kids and grandson. Everything was superb, ie: food, taste, value, etc People in N.Y. are spoiled . Definely a keeper!

Very good BBQ - small town Texas style

I have travelled in Texas many times and you have to go to a small town in Texas to find BBQ this good. The big chains in Dallas and Houston cannot match the meat quality. The meat here is not cheap - but what is in NYC. It is lightly staffed - but did not find it rude as others have claimed. I think that people don't get the concept of the restaurant if they have never been to the Market style, serve yourself places in Texas. Maybe they need to change the style to fit NYers desire for service - but please please don't change the meat.

    Cold But Good Food

Went to this BBQ joint during NYC's Restaurant Week where their special was "The PitMaster" for $24.07. This meal consisted of one beef rib, one pork rib, quarter chicken, 1/4 lb. beef brisket with two sides. Overall, the food was tasty but EVERYTHING was cold! The mac & cheese was thick because of so much cheese and the sweet potatoes weren't even a shade near warm. I would, however, recommend the beef brisket which is extremely tender and flavorful. As for the service, our waitress was pleasantly helpful and attentive but maybe it was the fact that the place wasn't crowded at the time which was around 4pm. Also, if you like to have your food served to you, then I would suggest not stepping into this place as you have to get on the "lunch line" with a meal ticket to place and receive your order. So, I would agree with most reviewers that there are definitely other places where you can go for hot BBQ, quality service and a better value.

    Just not worth it.

Below average food. Incompetent and rude service. Why does anyone eat here when Blue Smoke is just a short walk away?

    Go elsewhere for BBQ

Food mediocre - no meat on the bones - sides were cold, server never came to ask about drinks, only served water. Don't sit downstairs when band is not playing it is like your high school cafeteria. Totally not worth the time and effort.

    Stay Away

Went on a Friday night at 8pm (no wait - never a good sign). Definitely don't sit downstairs because you'll have to carry your food. They say beverages are served by the waitstaff, but no one ever came to take our drink order or even offer water refills. I ordered beef ribs - which consisted of bone and fat and a teeny tiny bit of beef. Sides were ok, but that's about it. Oh, and don't get up to leave when other people do b/c the line moves slow

    Great, Great Brisket

Those who say the Brisket is average or "not real brisket" have no clue what they are talking about. Granted, the "lean" brisket isn't great - so don't get it. The moist brisket is the best I've tasted outside of Texas...
