Nice diner; no chocolate cream pie
I like this diner - the food is classic diner fare, with fairly consistent quality. They are quick and the waitstaff are (in their own New York way) pleasant and chatty, especially with regulars. I like the fries, and their burgers and sandwiches are pretty good. The only complaint I have is that I've been there more than a dozen times over the past couple years and although it's on the menu, they have never once had chocolate cream pie (and I always ask).

Favorite of the bunch
Now my girlfriend, bless her overstuffed little heart, may prefer Viand and Gracie Corner, but man I've been digging this place since I moved to the neighborhood. The service is top notch -- nice human beings work there. I've never had a bad meal or waited long. Try the Balboa, try any of the wraps, go get breakfast. The other diners are good too, but when I have a choice, this is my spot. Of course, with her around, I don't have a choice real often.

Bad Bad Bad
I ordered delivery a couple of times, giving them a second chance since they are very close to me, but both times was dissapointed. Very rude employees and both times the food arrived cold (not even really warm). They didn't seem to care too much when I called to complain.

Quality and Reliable
Great local NY Diner. Good value, consistent and quality value diner food that one expects. Never had a bad meal here. They don't rush you out of the place and if you get delivery, they show up almost as soon as you hang up the phone.

Great breakfast!
I went to the Highlands for breakfast and had a great san diego omelette at the counter. You can tell these guys are pros. They even sent out a busboy to bring back some newspapers for us to read. Typical bustling diner in the city, with all types of people (families, couples, cute girls, etc.). Definitely a cozy place. And if you like talking about sports (especially the Knicks and Mets), Alex behind the counter is your man!

Best Diner in the Neighborhood
Easily the best diner in the East 80's. Consistently great food. We've tried many of the others in the area (Viand, Gracie's Corner, Gracie Mews) and this is the one we go back to time after time. If you're looking for a diner in this area, this is the one to go to, you won't be disappointed - it's great.

Great diner on the Upper East Side
This local diner on Third Avenue near 86th Street offers excellent comfort food - burgers, eggs, triple decker sandwiches. The staff are professional and experienced. Prices are average for the area. Expect to pay around $10 per person. Not much atmosphere, although you can get a seat facing the windows - for people watching on the street.
