Classic diner
I love this place, it's basically my other kitchen several times a week. Great service, fresh food and friendly faces when I walk in. This is a diner not a four star restaurant, comment below should understand that.

Customer service
My fiance and I live very close to this diner, though we don't order that often. Out of the handful of times we've ordered, they've messed up our order twice and sent the wrong meals. The first time this happened, they were unapologetic and then sent the missing food to my salad separately and made me pay for it. Last night it happened again, and when my fiance called, not only did they not apologize or offer to send the correct order, they argued with my fiance for 5 minutes, blamed it on us and were very rude. To top it all off, the food we did get sucked. Bottom line, Highlands Cafe diner on 85th and 3rd has the worst customer service I've experienced, it's overpriced and their food is not good.

It was really good
If you review my reviews, lol, you'll see that if I don't like a place, I can be unkind..like all the crappy Indian places up here on UES. Anyway, I just finished my breakfast delivery from this place and low and behold, it was everything that many others have recently noted...damn good! My omelet was moist, tasty, and nice and flaky..just the way I like it. The bagel was still warm when I got it..can u believe that?..kudos! And so was the coffee..and as I usually list many demands when ordering, I'm happy to say that they landed each and every one. Anyway, it was a bit expensive for what I ordered but as usual, I'll gladly pay a slight surcharge to get a minimum level of quality.. And this place now joins my staple of delivery places :-)

Good diner!
My fave diner on upper east side. Feels like NYC. Standard diner fare, consistently good quality food and charming wait staff (real NYers!) Nice window seating. Enjoy a tasty lunch and watch the world stroll by outside.

Great!!
This is the best diner in the whole area. I could not have asked for a better restaurant to go to all the time. Great for family, entertaining, etc.

Nice diner; no chocolate cream pie
I like this diner - the food is classic diner fare, with fairly consistent quality. They are quick and the waitstaff are (in their own New York way) pleasant and chatty, especially with regulars. I like the fries, and their burgers and sandwiches are pretty good. The only complaint I have is that I've been there more than a dozen times over the past couple years and although it's on the menu, they have never once had chocolate cream pie (and I always ask).

Favorite of the bunch
Now my girlfriend, bless her overstuffed little heart, may prefer Viand and Gracie Corner, but man I've been digging this place since I moved to the neighborhood. The service is top notch -- nice human beings work there. I've never had a bad meal or waited long. Try the Balboa, try any of the wraps, go get breakfast. The other diners are good too, but when I have a choice, this is my spot. Of course, with her around, I don't have a choice real often.
