Laid back and great food.
We went tonight and were extremely happy with everything. 4 of us started at a table for dinner, our service and meals were awesome. After dinner we moved to the bar to watch the football game where we were equally as happy. The bartender was super friendly and the crowd was chill. We will definitely go back that place!

Fell Off
I see the last review was two years ago. Time for an update. This place is on its last legs. Female bartender distracted and lazy - on a slow night she poured my Guinness like a Bud Lite at a frat party. No excuse to not even try with a Guinness. Spent most of her time dealing with her break up to some guy who was at the bar. Don't bring your personal issues to work. Place is dreary and the food tired. Burger not bad but hard to mess up. Generally not clean or inviting though, we're done with this place.

Go for the half-price sushi!
I was skeptical, but when my friend told me the sushi was 50% off every Monday and Tuesday I decided to give it a try. We each ordered 3 rolls and our total check came out less than $20. Hi Life also has good drink specials, a friendly waitstaff, and a relaxed atmosphere. I'll definitely be back soon.

NOT a repeat engagement
i read a lot of great reviews on this site and heard a few good things about this place from friends. I am sorry to report that I had a poor experience! The food wasn't bad, but it's wasn't great either. It's pretty difficult to mess up a plain ol' grilled chicken sandwich anyway. The decor/atmosphere is cute and we had a nice table by the window. BUT, the service was horrendous. We had a waitress in training so we cut her some slack, but it was a total disaster. Plus, her more seasoned supervisor was no picnic either. For dessert we ordered a piece of cheesecake, pretty standard, but it was $6.50, seemed a little high considering my entire dinner was only $10.50. Overall, definitely not recommended.

Surprisingly good food
My husband and I are constantly on the lookout for good food on the UES, so when Hi Life opened up, we were pretty interested. The food is actually really good! From the burgers to the lemon chicken, to the sushi and the chicken sandwiches, everything is very fresh and really yummy. Plus the atmosphere is very relaxing - it's not pretentious, they play good music and the service is good as well.

Burger and sushi? But it works.
It was difficult but found a nice restaurant where we could also watch the baseball game from our table on a big screen TV. The restaurant has a very diverse menu, maybe too diverse for its own good. For example, ordered the kabob samplerthe lamb was delicious but the chicken was drowning in sesame sauce, and the crab lollipops were mostly breadcrumbs and not very good. The steamed artichoke was excellent. For dinner, you can't go wrong with any of the standard bar fare such as a burger, but the tartare offerings are too ambitious. The big eye tuna was not succulent as big eye tuna should be, and the combination of ingredients (cilantro, apples) was off. The king kong sushi roll, however, was quite good. The menu ventures into pasta and other asian noodle dishes which we did not try. The wine list is very moderately priced, and many bottles are significantly cheaper here than in other restaurants (e.g., Cakebread Chardonnay for $36 as opposed to $56 in many other places). Another bonus is that Hi Life seamlessly brings together two worlds: turkey chili cheddar cheese fries and california rolls, lounge atmosphere and sports bar. It's a nice opportunity to make everyone happy.

Very Enjoyable.
Overall, a very pleasant surprise. My first instinct was that Hi Life would be trendy, as it seems to be one of the Upper East Side hotspots. However, my bunch and I were all impressed with the food, and the service was prompt and friendly. Very enjoyable!
