    What a nice find

Charming restaurant. Inside is bar - like, outside is enclosed in glass and recommended. Service was good, nice selection of drinks and quite a diverse menu ranging from sushi to pasta to steak to chicken.... Portions were big enough and quality was solidly above average.

A Great Night at Hi Life

For a great night, stop by Hi Life. I was lucky enough to have a cute waitress to introduce my friends and I to Hi Life's menu and specials. She was knowledgeable of the menu and made some great suggestions to satisfy our tastes. The menu has something for everyone and almost too many drinks to choose from. The prices were very affordable and allows for Hi Life to become a daily experience.

    An unpleasant experience

The east side Hi-Life, a favorite casual restaurant of ours, recently closed, so stopping in at the Amsterdam location for brunch seemed like a good idea at the time. It wasn't. A cheerful but inefficient waitress was the hilight of the Hi-Life experience. The general atmosphere was not-so-nice, with paper and food on the floor, poorly washed dishes, forks and knives (there were no spoons--coffee was served with plastic stirrers). The "basket of breakfast breads" consisted of dry cinnamon toast (margarine and a couple of grains of cinnamon) and overly sweet muffins with blue dots which were purported to be blueberries. Salad greens were brown and wet. Scrambled eggs, a mound of yellow and white pebbles.

Good food for what it is...I'll go back

Everything was good, service was not super attentive or friendly, but that was just one waitress of the bunch. Definitely try fries with lemon/dill mayo...enjoyed the steak au poivre (only 18.95!) and husband had meatloaf. We were with our baby so we really didn't have the focus to try any sushi or other apps besides edamame...we will definitely be back--for the prices it's quite worth it...

    Great Joy...

This place is one of the best restauranats NYC has to offer; the service and food are a treat for yourself. The French Toast is amazing! Great atmosphere and friendly staff.

    Great place for everything!

Hi Life is such a life saver on the Upper West Side, they have great food (half price sushi that is excellent!), a great bar, greart fries! and pasta dishes and huge huge salads. You'll never have to cook again. And the bar makes mean voda martinis!

    Great Menu / Specials

If you aren't sure what you're craving you can take a look at this menu and find that certain something. The specials are grand knockin off some price tag of vino, sushi and other dishes. Atmosphere is decent, better in the warmer months when sitting outside is feasible. Also was the location to the old movie 'High Life" in the eighties. Great place.
