Heartland Brewery

I just got back from Heartland Brewery. Me and my dinner companion ordered the pupu platter and an entree each, mine the half roast chicken and 3 ribs, hers, the pumpkin ravioli. The chicken was completely dry (imagine a dog trying to swallow a pill), and the ribs were just slathered in sauce to hide its texture. The filling for the ravioli was quite good, but the pasta itself was hard and stale. The platter was allright all in all-- a bit heavy in fried batter, but what do you expect-- but this place as a whole is an overglorified Applebees-- thoughtlessly prepared food at premium prices.

They had good seasonal beer specials when I was there. Their beer is very high quality so I usually don't mind paying the premium price that usually attached to it. The food is bar food. It's a bit expensive for what it is, but it's not bad. I didn't eat from the dinner menu and here's why.... They made us choose our table based on what we were eating - in order to sit in the tabled area you MUST order an entree - horrible policy. There are plenty of tables near the bar for drinks and apps only from a separate menu. Whatever, as long as I was able to have the beer. yum.

This is strictly a beer joint and nothing else. They make their own brew, and everything else is an afterthought. Of course, after you've had a few, you want to eat. My suggestion would be to go somewhere else. If you don't feel like it, the best bet is to get an appetizer trey with a mixture of potstickers and skewers and leave it at that...

My family and I went to this place for lunch. There were not that many people there, so we were promptly seated, and quickly got our orders in. The food came out shortly thereafter and was very good. There was no rush to finishing, and the waitress always looked after us. I would recommend this place to others who want an enjoyable dining experience. Just come at a quiet hour for the best service.

I was there with some friends, the place is very loud. The beer was good but do not go there for the food. We found out the food is microwaved and tasted very much like it. Do yourself a favor and try another place.

We waited at least 20 minutes before anyone noticed we hadn't even ordered yet. Asked for diet soda and got regular. The PuPu platter was pretty good. My chili however was kind of gross. It was basically chunks of fatty meat in barbecue sauce with some beans and chopped tomatoes. Not chili. I usually take my leftovers to go but I didn't even bother with this.

I've been to this heartland brewery a number of times over the last 5 years and have to say , I was pleasantly surprised when we went last weekend. It was the only place we could get a table due to the final 4 games that were on. We sat upstairs in a booth -4 of us and had a great meal and great drinks. It's nothing fancy, but the beer [select]ion was awesome and the food was tasty. We weren't looking for anything special, and had no expectations. The service was good, on time (except the appetizer, which they promply comped us and let us eat anyhow). We finished our meal and had 2 more rounds of drinks - not once did anyone try to rush us out the door, eventhough the place was full. They could use a few more bathrooms, but other than that, I look forward to going back. Good burgers, good apps, good veggie choices, great atmosphere- good place to go to catch up with friends and enjoy a meal. Music wasn't too loud, but enjoyable!
