New York City's most famous landmark, the Empire State Building, now houses New York's number one brewery, a two-story 450-seat Heartland equipped with two large bars and four giant flat-screen TV's. Our full-service restaurant breathes new life into an area overrun with fast food chains. More than just a watering hole with great beer, we offer both visitors and locals excellent food and a feeling of home that only Heartland can offer. Tip: try the Honey Citrus Rotisserie Chicken and St. Louis style ribs while downing a few pints of Smiling Pumpkin Ale, then step up to Farmer Jon's dessert showcase and watch Heartland's first doughnut robot in action.

    Great Atmosphere, Good Food

My boyfriend & I were looking for a bar where we could sit down, watch the Yankee game, and not be accosted by the Friday night drunken happy hour crowd. We went to 2 different bars a few blocks away that were so packed and loud, we couldn't even get a seat if we'd waited all night. Then I remembered the Heartland, which I'd been to many times before 2 yrs ago. We sat at the downstairs bar and only had to wait a few minutes for a couple of stools to open up at the bar. The bartender was great and even joked around with us. We got to try the different beers before ordering. We both ordered steaks which were cooked perfectly and very flavorful for not being a steakhouse! It wasn't loud or packed and we were able to enjoy our food, the beer, and the game in a bar without the party crowd. We will definitely be returning to watch more games here!

    Overpriced and not worth it

poor service, overpriced food and subpar bartenders.

    Great for Pre-Hockey Game

I go here often with friends before Rangers games at Madison Square Garden. It's convenient, the excellent menu is a big jump above regular pub fare and the service is friendly and efficient. What more can you ask for?

    Good Food / Cold Room

Before I go further, I had one of the finest pieces of steak I have had anywhere, period. 2 slices of shoulder with not a scrap of waste on them. It was that good. We headed here after a perfect evening upstairs, so to speak at the top of the Empire State. This place is right on the corner. The main attraction was of course the location and the choice of local brews on offer and there were plenty. We sampled a few and they were all excellent. A couple of gripes though. Despite the heatwave in Manhattan while we were there, it was freezing inside and it made it a little uncomfortable. And I was not too happy at an 18% service charge added to the bill. I don't mind tipping and if the proprieter wants to levy a service charge in lieu of cash tips then fine but post it on the menu, not on the bill at the end.

    Bustling & Efficiant

For a restaurant in one of the busiest areas of NYC it was still very friendly and fun. The food was a cut above for bar style dinning and the service was prompt and friendly even on a busy Sat. night

    Not very lively

Not as lively an atmosphere as the Union Sq. location. Food was not as good either. Would definitely not come here again.
