    Awesome atmosphere!

The atmosphere is amazing! For anyone who's seen Dirty Dancing 2: Havanna Nights...this is it! The food was good...the paella was great! The mojitos are wonderful! The service is great! I am definately going back!

    Great food but noisy

I went there on a Friday after work. I read reviews about the noise and they were right. It was the after work crowd and it was bustling with people. I asked to be seated on the 2nd floor to minimize the noise but the wait would've been too long. Instead they placed my party in the back which didn't do much for the noise. I must say the food was great. I tried the empanada sampler and it was delicious. I had the roasted chicked with yellow rice and black bean sauce. i didn't get a mojita but a passion fruit drink and it was good. I would recommend this place but make reservations first, then maybe you can be seated on the top floor with less noise.

    more for the tourists

I had lunch at Havana Central a few weeks ago and ordered off their express lunch menu --they guarantee your food will come within 15 minutes and deliver on this promise! I ordered the media noche (Cubano on sweet bread) which came with a HUGE pile of sweet potato fries. Portion sizes were huge, but flavor was lacking. The roast pork in my sandwich was so bland I had to add hot sauce and salt. Also, they didn't put a barrier between the sandwich and plate so the bread was soggy after a few minutes. My friend's (also bland) rice and beans was mixed with frozen veggie mix (carrots, peas)...but at least there was a lot to go around. Havana Central is worth a try if you're in the area and want a quick and very filling meal but for an awesome Cubano....etc, head to Havana-Chelsea if you don't mind the diner atmosphere.

    Delcious food and great service!

Had lunch/dinner reservations for May 12,2007 at 1:30pm with 2 other friends. We were seated in a nice and comfy corner booth. I ordered a mojito which was excellent(sugar cane and mint leaves),my friend had 2 fruit shakes which she said were really good. Ordered the empanadas as an appetizer, they were good also. For the entrees we had the chicken in garlic sauce(delicious and a normal portion),special of the day grilled porkchops w/spinach and mashed yuca(my friend loved it all),and the sampler platter, that included the ropa vieja,shrimp,ribs,etc....They all came w/rice and beans and we ordered a side of tostones(fried plaintains). To top we had the dulce de leche cheesecake which was delicious. Overall the food came out super quick. We were done by 3pm. The service was very good and all the waiters were attentive and very nice. I had been her once before for a drink and the ambiance was very nice and airy. I would definitely recommend this place for any meal or just drinks and appetizers. The prices are a bit more than usual than your typical Cuban restaurant, but for the area in Times Square you can't beat it. There is a band in the evenings Thursdays and I think on the weekends.

Had a reservation for a party of six. Arrived and almost walked out when we heard the very loud piped in music and bar crowd at 5:30pm. We were escorted upstairs where tables were set for dining. The noise was deafening and the seats at the table we were taken to were not comfortable for dining. We were taken to another table - seating was much better. We commented on the noise and the sound was miraculously turned down! Service was excellent and food was very good. The wait staff tried to please us in every way. All the group of six said they would certainly return to this restaurant!

    Nice Food,dreadful atmosphere

Went here for a meal and had lovely food but the whole thing was ruined by the Band, who although were very good were too loud.We couldn't here ourselves think and struggled to hold any sort of conversation.I tried moving tables to be further away but the place was chocca and we had to stay put.We ended up moving on to a couple of bars when due to horrible weather, would have rather stayed in the restaurant...It spoilt what otherwise was an enjoyable meal...My recommendation is go there, but sit as far down the restaurant a possible as you'll then enjoy both the band and the foof....

    Why isn't it actually Cuban?

None of the waiters are Cuban, and the food isn't authentic. It goes with the general idea of the cuisine, but has some major flaws. And some major staples are missing. Overall, nothing to write home about.
