a disgrace to cuban food!
this place is a tourist trap with a mess of heavily processed food! our waiter was extremely slow, the place was beyond noisy, and their ribs - which are touted as some of the best in the city - were tepid and too overloaded with sauce. do yourself a favor - don't go.

Not your best cuban FOR SURE
well i went there for lunch with a friend and we had the havana veggie salad, the pulled pork and the green fried plantains. 1) the veggie salad had a truckload of greens... and that's pretty much it, REALLY nothing special 2) the boneless pork with the claim on the menu that it "melts in your mouth" you will probably choke in no time, if you don't get a bowl of liquified lard, or a TALL glass of water to make that thing go down. it's DRY and just not really good at all. lacks in flavor, unless you want to use the HOT sauce which will give it a kick to make it go down. The green fried plantains are just plain ... very plain. I mean, plain oil sponges with no taste or flavor. I loved the black beans though..(HOW could one mess those up). and $4 for an espresso shot aliased as "cuban coffee?" not worth it guys.. but of course.. what do you expect in timessquare? the ambiance is cool though..i luv me sm salsa rhythms!

I second that 'Disappointed'
I've never had paella, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a vegetable variety, which I must admit, was quite good, and the portion was substantial. My boyfriend however, ordered the salmon, which was a huge portion, but - the fish was undercooked, the shrimp that topped it were bland and very fishy tasting, and the plantains that came with the meal were stale and overcooked. When we complained about the tostones, the waiter, who was very attentive and accommodating, brought us a whole new order at no charge, but for the price, it wasn't worth the unappetizing meal. Ordered the flan for desert, which was decent, but I've had better. Although not terrible, it was definitely not great.

Disappointed
Do not have the Empanadas of Shrimp. Had 2 of them for lunch on Tuesday, August 13th and experienced an allergic reaction, not certain if the small shrimp inside were cleaned sufficiently, but don't take the chance. Service lacked as well, mostly with waiter. Requested no ice in our beverages, received ice. Requested yellow rice received white. Needs improvement.

Not bad.
Re: the service, I wouldn't go if you're in a hurry. But it wasn't like we were waiting for hours on end. Re: the food, not bad. Good portions and flavorful.

not what i expected
there was only one waiter serving, and they did a good job, but the wait for food was too long.

Fine Cuban Fare
My friend and I went to Havana last week for lunch. We went back again today. The food is very good and the atmosphere is very tranquil. The first time there I had the arroz con camarones and the second time Chicken Salad. Both were nice size portions and very tasty. My friend enjoyed the arroz con pollo as well. The maduros and tostones are very good. As far as the service, its a bit slow but the servers are very nice. The restaurant gets crowded at lunch time and perhaps there arent enough servers.
