We Usually Go There Before A Show

My wife and I tried this restaurant on a whim. We pleasantly found this is the best value eating for the Times Square theater area. We have made it our pre-show place to dine. Our first stop after getting cordially greeted is the bar (we get there show-time early) where we order the very tasty and worth it $5 Mojito (Happy Hour). I find the Classic (traditional) the best. We have tried and liked the empanadas, ropa vieja and were especially surprised by the 'pernil asado' sandwhich - the meat was tasty and tender. We have been to Central various times and have not been very much disappointed. The 'cafe con leche' is fine as is the flan. If you get there by 6:00 the timing works out so that you are ready to see a show on time. For Times Square, Havana Central cost- wise is perfect for our post 08' pockets.

    Loved It!

Tried this place because it was suggested and I'm glad that I did. The food was spectacular and the atmosphere for hot summer night was what you needed. From the moment the doors opened, you could feel the energy. We walked right in and were seated immediately and our waiter was polite and beyond attentive. The Mojito's in this place are nothing short of amazing and the wine selection was nice as well. The price was good for the city and for all of what came it; tome there was nothing to complain about. The only thing I wished for was an actual dance floor because with the band playing, drinks flowing....you automatically want to get up and dance the night away. My boyfriend and I will be heading back to Havanna Central and this time we're definitely going to tear the floor up!

    Great food

The food here is pretty good. I had the tamales and they were fantastic. Definitely try the Passionfruit Mojito, it is excellent. Price is great for their proximity to Time Square. I will definitley return.

    Worth a visit

Stopped in on a whim. V good mojito for $5 during happy hour. I thought the Ropa Vieja was good ( I make theis dish at home). Service very friendly and quick.

    what a disappointment

I'll get straight to the point. The empanadas were good. The pernil was pale, bland, fatty and lukewarm. The rice was pasty and the beans were mostly sauce. The flan tasted like it came from a box. The service was slow. What a disappointment!

Not for those who know about real Cuban

The ropa vieja was mediocore and the black beans were VERY dissappointing. They were water and had no flavor. I don't think they were even made cuban style. However, I will say their cuban sandwhiches were really great as well as the empanadas! If you've grown up eating latin foods you will be disappointed. But if you don't know much about it, this place will be just right because you won't be overwhelmed with spices.
