    I have officially given up.

I love the food from Havana Central. However, next time I go, I will be returning to a different location! The service at this location has been consistently poor everything is done at a snail's pace, no matter how busy it is. Waiters never come to check if the order is ok, or for refills. Getting the check is a long wait. They even took our utensils away, delivered our food, and left. We waited five minutes until we finally flagged down someone. Our food was cold, and we were so frustrated. If you choose to go here, make sure to hit up the bar first. You're going to need it!

    Turning worse

visited a few months back with kids and it was cheap, freindly and tasty. Went yesterday eve (Mother's day but 5pm!) and was worst possible experience. Waited forever for food, and when it arrived it was not good. Chips were stale from a bag, and they would only sell chips with Guac. When we said just chips, pls, they charged 8$ and forgot the guac (brought it after protest). Nachos missing chicken and any possible flavor. Black been soup was refreid beans in a bowl. Veggie paella was garlicky spanish rice. Fries tasted like they'd been siting around for a while under a warmer. All told, the food tasted like it had been made for Ruby Tuesday's, coated with preservatives and forzen to be rethawed at Havana Central. Crowd was mostly hispanic so you'd think they know better. BTW, service was wretched as well. Really liked it the other times, and now dispappointed I have to cross it off my list.

    Unfortunate

I've gone here several times, thinking that my previous poor experience had to do with the time of day, day of the week, or the waiter. Not the case. The food is all right, but arrives consistently lukewarm, no matter what you order and no matter how busy (or not) they are. The service is appalling. They're always unfailingly polite, but there's no attention to detail or follow-up. Drink glasses remained empty and we constantly needed to ask for a refill of water or another drink. Missing utencils were replaced only after reminding the waiter twice. A group of four of us were only given two plates on which to eat the handful of appetizers we had gotten to share. And not that we had wanted to prolong our evening there, but we weren't even offered dessert at the end of our meal. All in all, a frustrating evening of chasing down service. The space itself is beautiful and a far cry from what The West End used to look like, but the music is out of control loud. We were screaming at each other to make ourselves heard above the thumping bass. If you come here, have a drink at the bar (they make good mojitos) and head to another restaurant in the neighborhood.

reasonable food but bad and slow service

Consistently their food is just ok but the food takes forever to arrive. Every time I go I try to be open and understanding but at the end of the meal I am frustated because everything takes much longer than I expect. Perhaps ok for dinner, but defintely not a place for lunch during the week.

    could be better...

I had fallen in love with Havana Central on my first visit... I bragged about it to absolutely everyone I knew... until I went a few more times and the service just deteriorated : ( My last visit... which will probably be the last was the Saturday after Valentine's.... bc it had fallen on a Thursday, I planned a dinner for 5 couples... I had purposely requested the back room when I called to reserve... which was about 3 days before and had a confirmation for the same... comes the day and without a courtesy call the back room is no longer available... we were moved to the front area which I personally do not like because it's very busy... not appropriate for a dinner... Service was not the greatest... for a party of 10, they could have done a better job... will not go back... too many places in the city to explore...

    just plain bad

the food isn't that great, the service was ok, the atmosphere doesn't even fit in with the neighborhood, it's just not worth it. there are so many better restaurants in the neighborhood that i would rather go to. i will not be returning

    Good food - Slow delivery

Reviewers have been complaining about the service since Havana Central took over. I'll add myself to the list - as of 1/20/08, the management apparently isn't taking this issue seriously. We've never received our food sooner than 45 minutes, and most recently had to wait an hour and a half. The sweet potato fries are nice, but every time I order them I have to reheat them in the toaster oven. The roast pork sandwich is quite nice, and the chorizo burger is pretty tasty too. Like others, I just wish they would arrive warm.
