Food is OK but service could be better
The food is not impressive, but ok. Relatively small portions for the price. The atmosphere is good. But the tables are so close together, and it was difficult to have conversations. There was no place to hang my coat, so I had it over my chair, and some food (sauce) was spilled over my coat when the waiters were carrying their food back and forth. The manager said that he would send us check or gift card for the expence incurred for the dry cleaning, and I have turned in my dry cleaning receipt as they requested and left my address. But I have never received the check or gift card. I don't feel like going back to the restaurant after this experience.

Service could be better.
Havana is a nice restaurant - obviously a popular restuaruant as it was packed, food was good, service was not good, tables are very close together, live music was a nice addition. We had the papas rellenos and empanadas for appetizers - both fried, eh I've had better but they were good. I had the Pollo a la Maggie - it was very good. My son had the Churrasco con chimichurri - that was the best entree at our table. My husband that the Lechon (pig) and it was okay - a bit dry actually. My daughter had the salmon and it was okay - not very warm though. Our appetizers took almost an hour - without a word from our waiter until I stopped him to ask what was up. He said that they'd run out of something and that it'd be out soon. I just would've expected him to tell us that when he knew rather than let us just sit there waiting...We had a pitcher of sangria - that was very good but expensive ($35 or so). Overall it's a decent place - but I don't think we'd go again.

Great for parties
I have had at least 4 parties here (10 or more people) and they were all great. The food and service were very good and the portions are huge. A great value. They work with you on the menu and cater to your needs. I will continue to plan parties there.

Great Lunch Specials
Best value is at lunch but they have a more extensive dinner menu. I love their Ropa Vieja and Cuban Sandwich but have to agree their Paella is ok but not the best. Sit out outside in their "Jardin" when the weather is nice.

paella de la disappointee
I judge a spanish restaurant based on their signature dish , this would be paella! The dish is tasty BUT the ingredients were minuscule,,that would be the shrimp ,clams , mussels...there's where the value got low points! I like to have a decent dinner even though its 'chic' place at least service me a decent portion if you charge $20 for a meal! I dont like feeling hungry after paying some big bills and having a lot of flavored rice doesnt cut it. I would NOT go back to this place, unless to impress a girl.

Great last afternoon in New York
On the afternoon of Weds 23rd I happen to pop into this restaurant for their on-offer mojito. I had fantastic time just chatting with the staff and had a delicous dessert to accompany my beverage. I was kindly offered to sample a wine they were thinking of adding to their wine list. Again testament to how friendly the people were and what a great atmoshere the place had. I only wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy the live latin music that was on that day and a few more mojitos perhaps.............. Maybe next time.......

Below Average
We had an okay experience at Havana alma de Cuba but overall, I would not consider going there again. Maybe if they get a little more civilized in dealing with their customers (they "kindly" kept us waiting for a table so long and the way they handle reservations show that they clearly do not care about customer satisfaction).. The food was okay.. but just okay. I was expecting a bit more flavor in my dishes, maybe something other than frozen peas in my paella (the seafood tasted quite fresh however). I would not recommend their chicken dishes however. Their drinks are good and the desserts are tasty too (but there is nothing all that special about the desert menu of this cuisine anyway) I guess the molten chocolate cake with its caramel glaze was the best. Creme brule is so-so and the sugar sprinkled fried/baked doughs (I forgot its name) are nice too.
