Best Cuban in the city!
What an outstanding find. Had heard about this place for years and finally found my way there while staying with a friend. Have now been back many times and I will keep coming. Food is excellent, atmosphere lively and friendly. Best sea bass I have ever had. This place is one of my neighborhood favorites!

Worst Cuban Sandwich in NYC
Everything else on the menu may be good but do not order a cuban sandwich. That's the only thing 3 friends and i ordered and it was terrible. There was no roast pork just heated up pork cold cuts. If it's not a cuban sandwich then don't call it one! Waste of money and time, so frustrating.

Not worth it!
Atmoshpere is ok though it smells like insecticide near the entrance. Service was eh... my water was not refilled once during meal. I ordered lamb chops which was a special for $28. While the presentation was nice and it looked like a lot of food - they only gave you two small lamb chops - most restaurants at least give you three usually 4 or 5. Definitely not worth it. Charged $12 for small mojitos even though there was website advertised daily special of $9. I expect to pay $12 at a high end club, not at a mediocre restaurant. The drink was good but small and should have been $9 - the waitress tried to argue the special was only for lunch but thats not how it was advertised on their site. I will not go back. I am not a tourist yet i think this place is a tourist trap.

Not what I expected and not in a good way
The Restuarant was beautiful I will say that but the waitress we got was very and I mean very pushy it was noon I was not interested in a drink yet she push and push then after finally getting it thru her head she went to get my soda then when she returned although the rest of the party was ready I was not I told her that and she stated well I will take their orders and then you should be ready well I was not so i gave in and ordered .she told Me I could order the appetizer As a meal bit didn't tell that everything would be ala carte I know it's new York but come on. When our food arrive one of my friends food was cold I figured since mine was fried they probably had his sit I know I'm from Florida so a Cuban meal should not cost a hundred dollars for three people but it I wa paying that the food should have been better One last thing if you are expecting actual Cuban boniatos if you order the boniato fries they are not they are sweet potatoes fries

Excellent all around!
This is a favorite of my husband's for lunch so I had to check it out. Went for dinner last night. They have a couple of nice tables in the front but we chose to sit in the back area. It is simply decorated with Cuban travel poster and brick walls and Cuban music - nice! Our meals of skirt steak and Ropa Veja were fabulous as was my Argentine wine. The service is top notch and your waiter will be happy to make recommendations or help you decide from their extensive menu. I only took off a half a point for noise level. We will be back!

Nicely authentic
Dropped by this little basement spot at the end of a long, hot day that involved a lot of walking. The service was relaxed and friendly. The bartender mixes one of the better mojitos I've ever had - minty and smooth, with just the right touch of lime. The food is standard Cuban fare - the papas rellenas, deep fried potato puffs with a meat center, come to the table with a basic red dipping sauce, over a bed of completely superfluous lettuce. The first puff was still cold in the center; fortunately, this was a minor hiccup, not repeated with the rest of the serving. The ropa vieja came in a fried nest of thinly sliced potatoes, with a large serving of yellow rice, a separate bowl of creamy black beans, and a couple chunks of grilled maduro. The flan de coco was average, spiked with off-the-shelf dessicated coconut flakes. The food is not overly spicy - Latin American food seldom is. It's primarily starchy comfort food designed to prepare you for a lengthy siesta. I left with a full belly, and a vaguely sleepy, satisfied feeling, all without overspending.

Perfect for a night out with friends
I went here on a friday night with a party of 7 w/o a reservation. Within minutes of arriving we were seated and they quickly came take our order. The waiters were very prompt and extremely nice. There was a party going on pretty much rigth next to us and although they were pretty loud, we still had a terrific time. Our meals came very quickly and I must say, the dishes were terrific. I would TOTALLY recommend this place to anyone.
