Haru is great because it's reliable. the sushi is always fresh and tasty. no surprises. the prices are reasonable. the service is very good. i've tried sooo many places all over the city, and i always keep coming back here, because 1) it's down the block (well so are 20 other sushi places) and 2) for the three reasons i mentioned above. the atmoshpere will range, depending on which location. i personally love the outdoor seating at this UES location. but for dining in, i love the UWS location. it your looking for a friday night hang out maybe this isnt the place, but if you want good, fresh, reliable sushi, a great dinner, and excellent service, the this is your place.

    Great Sushi!

The sushi here was very fresh. We went on the early side so it wasn't too busy, but I've heard that it can get very crowded. Well worth it.

    Definitely Have to Try

My boyfriend and I went here on a Saturday Night. We got there around 10 so we were seated fast, in a great seat too. We ordered Sake to start, which was recommended by our waitress, and it was great. The Food came out fast and was served in large portions. We had such a great time. I'd recommend this place to everyone.

    Good food, rude service

The food quality is excellent, one of the best sushi spots on the upper east side. The service is rude and trying to put your name down for a table is a more difficult feat than peace in the middle east. Enjoy the food, dislike the service.

    Tasty

Their lunch specials were bargain and tasty. The service was attentive and friendly. It was a late Saturday afternoon and the place full. Sushi pieces were fresh and big. Sake was wonderful. I would highly recommend the place.

    Accidental Surprise

We didn't expect such an expansive menu. very high quality sushi. I expected thicker cuts of the sashimi, and not the exact same fish that is pre-cut for nigiri. The filet mignon on skewers was very dry. The salmon on the skewers was divine. I didn't like the chef specialty roll or the cucumber roll. It is not worth the money. Order normal sushi or one of the divine hot appetizers, like the fish spring rolls. The atmosphere is fun. I would have sat in the bar area for better atmosphere.

    Not bad

Friday night, no res, got a table right away, staff friendly and attentive, dragon role great, most choices were very good, although I agree that it is fusionish, still it works... except that--nasty yellowtail tartar--overall I would go back after a visit to the moma...
