My midtown sushi spot
I was looking for a Japanese restaurant to replace my favorite Tenzan while working in Midtown and Haru is it! Their food is always delicious and delivered in a timely manner. I suggest the Rock Shrimp appetizer as well as the Tuna Tartar!! I haven't eaten at their restaurant yet so I can't comment on the servers but the delivery guys are always pleasant.

Great
Staff went out of their way to make our birthday dinner great! Good seating, very friendly waitress and manager. Overall the Japanese food was good, except for the chicken katsu, I found that to be rather dry. However, the King Crab Dumplings were great! Make reservations beforehand and they'll usually give you a more quiet seat. Bathroom is clean.

solid B
Went on a Wednesday night for dinner at 7:30. Good, not great. Americanized Japanese food. Think of this as a Ford Taurus. Good for going to A to B, not a bad car by any means, but won't impress anyone (unless they're a barbarian from outside Manhattan). Crowd was a mix between tourists getting ready before a Broadway show and the after-work crowd. The sushi was good, everything else was less than good. Service was attentive enough that it made up for never seeing my waiter except when he came to me. Only real service drawback was the constant upsell attempt, which is not appreciated on a first date (as this was). Price is fine. I'll go back if it is convenient and I'm not looking to sweep a girl off her feet. Been to a lot of worse places, but anything better is more expensive.

Great sashimi and pre-theater meal
I like eating here before a Broadway show, because the location can't be beat and the service is quick. I'm not a fan of their sushi, but that's mostly because I'm not a fan of westernized rolls (dragon rolls? ugh). Their sashimi melts in your mouth and is always room temperature. Their duck salad is also delicious. It's gigantic, so an easy appetizer to share.

i know a little about sushi...
i know how fresh the fish is by color and texture, the temperature the rice and fish should be served and the cut per piece depending on whether it's sushi or sashimi. not an expert, but i do know a little something... if you're looking for your average roll, fine. i'm sure they make a perfectly fine california roll or tempura whatever. but if you're looking to sit at the sushi bar as they cut your pieces of fish, you should go elsewhere. the slices of fish are long but paper thin - not what should be served nor the temperature they should be served at... for easy Americanized sushi, go for it, otherwise, travel away from this place...

Excellent Sushi!
Very, very good sushi! Everything was so fresh and the rolls were very creative. The fish was absolutely perfect - definitely one of the best sushi experiences in the City. The tables were a little crowded though.
