    Disappointing

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday which coincidently happened to fall on Valentine's Day. I made the reservation kind of late so I suppose from the fact that they even had open reservations on Valentine's day I should have guessed it wouldn't be too grand. The service was very good, people were extremely polite, and the ambiance was nice. But it ends there. When I had initially made the reservation, there was no notification that ONLY the prix-fix Valentine's day menu would be served. Ironically, we observed other tables receive food that was not on the price-fix menu. We ordered a bottle of wine which was probably the only good thing we ingested. My boyfriend ordered his steak medium-rare which was definitely far more on the rare side. I ordered the lamb shank which was far too salty to enjoy (this is saying a lot because I one of those people who loves added excessive amounts of salt to my food). Lastly, for dessert we ordered a raspberry white mousse. I could have bought that from a grocery store for a third of the price. All in all, I'd say that I was extremely disappointed with the dinner. I like good food and have no problem paying for good food, but I really felt like I had just wasted my money.

Best restaurant in the Wall Street area

Just moved to the Financial District from Chelsea about 4 months ago, a neighborhood known for it's outstanding restaurants. Since then we've been on the hunt for a great restaurant that makes us melt off our seats the way the restaurants in our old hood did. After hitting just about all the restaurants in area, we were incredibly disappointed...that was until we discovered Harry's! This place is hands down the best restaurant in the area. From the brunches with unlimited mimosas, to the great late night dinners- the kitchen stays open until 11pm. I love this place! You can tell the chef really pays close attention to flavor. I haven't had a bad meal yet!

    just a great place

ribeye steak comes w/ generous sides so there's no need to order those. the canadian bacon is a must to share. get a beer with dinner and pos a cocktail to start and you have a great meal at a good price. definitely will be making my places of regularly visited.

    Best

I have been to Harry's many times and love the place. About 4 years while working in the local firehouse (I am member of the FDNY) near Harry's, the stove in the firehouse broke on Thanksgiving night. We all at the local piazza shoppe picking up a few pies when Harry comes walking by. He wished us all a Happy and went on his way. An hour later a delivery shows up with tons of Harry's great food. We were not in any means of charity, it is just Harry being Harry, a classy true gentleman that is an will never be forgotten. The food is and was great, the man is what makes the place.

    Personality

This was actully many years ago and I pray Harry's is still owned by Harry, (Former maitre'd, Delmonico's) The food and drink were always great, just top notch and the sevice, with Danny behind the stick was exceptional but what made Harry's was Harry and the service. When you walked in, everyone knew or thought you were 'somebody.' I wasn't anybody yet and as a matter of fact after five years at Harry's at Hanover and over the Harry's at the Amex was recently out of a job at the NYSE. I had a running house account which was around it's usual $300 with a week to go in the month. Some pest at the bar mentioned to one of the bartenders that I was out of work. Harry was told about this by Danny, he came to me, ordered me a drink, ripped up my tab and sent me home in a limo. "sign for whatever you want, Mr. Bill, when you get back on your feet, I'm sure you'll do the right thing." H.W. (Bill) Hamlin never forgot and spent a fortune over the next decade at HARRY'S. Thanks Harry, (And Danny) where ever you are. Bill

Only if you're a Wall St millionaire

The other Friday 3 coworkers and I went to Harry's Cafe for lunch. It was a busy lunch hour, with many professionals of all age ranges dining in the cafe. The expansive dining room is very attractively decorated in wood tones and is set below street level. The air conditioner was blasting so strongly though, that my nose was frozen, and it was a 73 degree day. After a while, the A/C cycled off (or it was turned off) and it became stuffy in the restaurant. Apparently their ventilation system doesn't have a temperature that can comfortably accommodate all customers. I ordered a tuna burger which was overly salted and spiced. Its consistency was more like a crab cake/burger patty and the tuna seemed to be ground up with a number of intense spices. I really could not eat it. Even though it came with a ketchup/bbq sauce on the side to drown the taste, I still couldn't bear to eat something so unbearably salty and heavily spiced. The fries were fabulously crispy and thin, which was a great treat. In the end the fries couldn't compensate for the tuna burger and I asked the waiter to take away the burger, mostly uneaten with the exception of a few bites from me (and my coworkers who also sampled and confirmed the disaster on my plate). In place of the tuna, I ordered a chicken and goat cheese sandwich. This selection was much better and more moderately priced as well. There was a plentiful amount of chicken on the sandwich and the flavor was tasty, with a small amount of goat cheese. The fries I had enjoyed so much just a short while earlier were replaced with a fried version of potato chips, which were nicely crispy. The servers and staff work very hard at Harry's and they aim to please. But overall, the prices are rather high for the basic foods on the menu. I would say that the neighborhood dictates the pricing on their menu, with the Wall Streeters willing to pay what the market will bear....But Harry's is not a must, especially when there are so many other pubs in the city that will serve the same fare for significantly less.

    Great lunch spot!

Harry's Cafe is a great lunch spot with coworkers. I choose Harry's time and time again- the menu is extensive and reasonable, and everything I have had there is great. The grilled chicken sandwich and the snapper are favorites, and try the Harry's Salad!
