    Never Again!

Stay.Away!!! We've been here before and the last two times we came the service was slow at best but last night took the cake and we decided NEVER to return again. Here is what happened: Wife and I came in and asked what the wait time was. We were told 15 min but there were at least three other parties ahead of us waiting. Wife and I went to the bar to wait and have drinks. I went to the restroom came back my wife still had no drinks. She informed me that it seemed there was no bartender there and it looked like only the wait staff came by to make their drinks for their tables. After standing for five minutes the hostess informed us that she did have a table but was next door in their new restaurant, the Burger Bungalow. This place as it seems is their new expansion, but you can order food from Harlem BBQ. Anyway. We sat and after 10 min we finally just flagged a waiter who seemed completely out of it and we ordered drinks. Wife ordered a nut cracker I ordered a Sugar Hill on tap. No Sugar Hill on tap even though I was it earlier at the bar. I asked what did they have period in terms of beer and it was all bottled so I ordered Sugar Hill in a bottle. He came back only with wife's drink. Ok, thought he'd come back with a bottle later because maybe carrying one drink at one time was all he could master but the waiter actually walked though our row of tables three times before finally my wife asked where my beer was. He came back with TWO bottles of Sugar Hill and did apologize. Mind you we already ordered by this time; a half chicken that for some reason they NEVER have white meat and my wife ordered a burger. I sent my daughter a text after we ordered our food clocking in at 8:43 PM. After my wife and I talked about house biz, kids, her recent trip, politics, we finally had enough and decided to look for a waiter. At this point we kept seeing food coming out of the kitchen but all going downstairs. I looked at my phone at it was 9:49 PM. Yup, a whole HOUR and three minutes since I texted my daughter when we ordered our food!!! I got up and walked to the bar and told the gentleman there that we ordered our food a whole hour ago but when I was doing that my wife had already gotten on her coat and handed me mine. The dude just said, "I'll get the manager", but my wife just informed him that we were leaving. And we did just that.

    Great Find!

This is a great spot for reasonable BBQ. Everything is very fresh, and the portions are extremely generous. Went with a group of six and we were all very happy with our meals. Half of our party took leftovers home with them.

    Beware of the gratuity.

Today was my first time at Harlem BBQ. The food was excellent. I received the bill and charged it. When the waiter brought me the charge receipt to sign, I gave an 18% tip. It wasnt until I was outside that I realized that the bill was too high. I then looked on the itemized bill that was behind my copy of the charge to discover that they had already added a 15% tip! I went back in and told waiter that no where on the lunch menu did it state that the gratuity would automatically be added. I won't go back. While I probably should have looked at the itemized bill, I believe they assume most people don't Seemed a bit sneaky.

    Mother in law's birthday

We took 18 people there for a birthday celebration. No one complained which is almost impossible with my family. The service was great and patient Ages 9 to 83 were all well fed and sharing. The drinkers drank and seemed to be happy with them, they kept getting more. I was pleasantly suprised by the bill. All in all a great time. We'll be back.

    Cheap and good

I never try chicken and waffle before and I have to tell you it was pretty good. The waffles where very crunchy and the chicken was very crispy. They also have good drinks

    Delivery

The food is delicious, but what ever you do, do not get food delivered. They will always forget something. I called to tell them they missed something in my order and waitied another 45 minutes for it. I also think they are over priced.

    Disapointed all over the place

This place had one of the best chicken in Manhattan and very good soup. Today the food was not good at all, tasteless chicken and under cook ribs with very bad service. Drinks are still good.
