I'll never go again
I loved the food. But the service is arrogant and rude. One time I went with my mother and we wanted to know about certain dishes. Not only did the waiters act as if they did not want us to be there but they barely answered our questions. At one point, while we were thinking about what to order, the waiter blurted out, " do you know what you want yet?" in a loud and disrespectful manner. My mother, who never ate Japanese food before, politely asked for a fork and the waiter completely ignored her. It took 10 minutes to get the waiters to help us at all. What really hurt was when we noticed that the waiters were nicer to the other customers. At the end, while me and my mother were still debating on how much should we leave over for the tip (if any), the waiter went over my shoulder, snatched the case with our money and said "Okay, thank you." That was a definite sign that we were not welcome. I suspect that we did not look rich enough for their business, but who knows. Nonetheless, there are plenty of other sushi places to go to where everyone is treated equally. And just FYI, I went here several times. I was actually a regular. I noticed small hints of rudeness and favoritism towards other customers here and there. But what I experienced in that restaurant with my mother that day was disgusting.

This place is good.
Don't underestimate this place. It is a very solid neighborhood establishment. I eat here about twice a month with my wife, and the fish is always fresh. The special rolls (Kamikaze Roll and Fire and Ice Roll) are outstanding. The sushi chefs really do a great job. The waitresses could be a little friendlier, but the restaurant always has really good food.

Chinese Do Japanese
While the sushi chefs are trained purportedly by Japanese sushi chefs, I generally stay away from the sushi. The times that I had spicy tuna rolls, the tuna was not so fresh and extremely mushy, and oversaturated with mayo. I have to say I eat here often though, and order from them a lot, because their cooked food is excellent. Granted, I generally only order the dinner bento box, but it's a great value for around $15, and the chicken shogayaki is tasty and consistent. The chicken katsu or tempura that comes with it is great too. The pork shogayaki is often overcooked, so stay away if you have weak teeth! ;-)

Average at best
I ate at Hanami recently and found it to be just average. The service was excellent, and the fish was fresh. However, it was cut very thick and the pieces were long. Made the sushi taste less like sushi and more like a side of beef. And the decor felt like i was in a sushi-fast-food restaurant instead of a sushi bar. Overall, a mediocre place. I will not be returning.

Delicious
My husband and I found this place completely by accident. We were walking around Manhattan, completely starving, looking for some good sushi...we are pretty picky as we only eat sushi from a couple of the best places on Long Island. We saw the "All You Can Eat" sign and really...took a chance. This was very much out of character for us. We absolutely LOVED it! The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is very relaxed. We loved it so much we took the LIRR into the City the very next weekend and ate there again! We live in Eastern Long Island and have a four year old...so this was no easy task (getting a babysitter for the second weekend in a row!). Absolutely fabulous, can't wait to go back.

Wow
I'm embarrased to admit this, but I eat sushi once or twice a day. At lots of different places. Sushi sushi sushi. This place STANDS OUT! Not only is it delicious, it is affordable, and they have 30+ special rolls. Totally creative, fresh and delicious, great presentation. Not on a chic street, and I bet that's why they get to charge comparatively little with other restaurants of their caliber. Try the West Roll and Ginger ice cream (hard to find even at Thai restaurants in nyc)...DELISH!

Awesome
I love this place. Fish is always fresh and delicious and the tab is always affordable. Definitely give it a shot if you're in the neighborhood craving a spicy tuna roll. (this place is just as good as Japonica for half the price).
