The food is actually not bad. What is infuriating is that they NEVER have all of my order. Literally the last 6 or 7 times I've order, consecutively, they have either been out of the soup or sandwich that I order.

I place an order for delivery at 12:40 pm. my confirmation said will be delivered between 1:40-2:10. at 2:25 is still not here....when I called them, after keeping me on hold for 10 minutes I was told mine is the next to go out. the food there is not good enough to warrant a 2 hr wait.

i work three blocks away from the 42nd st. location. we were too busy to leave so ordered delivery. it took an hour and a half to deliver an order for two people. and then the cucumbers on my salad were limp and transparent (obviously past their peak) and the avocado was black and brown. never again.

i used to go there all the time since it's close to my office, but the soups are so unnecessarily salty. i feel like i need to drink a gallon of water just to recover from a cup of soup.

i am a huge fan of the 10 vegetable soup. there aren't a lot of good food options in the neighborhood and hale and hearty is solid and predictable.

If you go to this location, suggest you go early & before the rush. The biggest issue I have with this H&H spot (42nd/6th) is that there always seems to be a crush. The salad line curves around and sometimes blocks the entry...all the cashier and service lines seem to converge...and it can be a stressful experience on a busy day. Don't even think about sitting there...not a lot of space. I just find compared to other locales, this store gets slammed because it is an oasis is a sea of mediocrity in the area. They really should get a bigger store or re-design this one to be strictly take-out. Other than that...salads rock and the soups are awesome. I do think the sandwiches are over-priced for the portions.

Hale & Hearty is the last bastion of good food around Times Sq. 1/2 soup 1/2 sammich combo rocks! Broccoli & cheddar soup / smoked turkey & brie I loooove you.
