    Too expensive for the neighborhood..

I love Hakkasan..have been to both in london and the one in Miami.. I am cringing in having to write this but they chose the wrong location in NYC.. The prices are for east 50's not for 43rd betw 8th/9th..it is a desolate, dark and dreary block.... i was expecting it to be packed friday night and it wasnt.. the food is delicious!! the drinks are great!!! i just dont see new yorkers looking to spend this type of money in the area west of the theater district... i hope it survives but whomever convinced them to go with this location (obviously because of cost) really did them a dis-service... (rib-eye with merlot sauce - A+, but expensive for the small portion)..

    Yum Yum

We went to Hakkasan for a celebration and it lived up to its reputation. The food was stellar and better than expected. That being said, for NY, the portions were small with London prices. I would highly recommend the dim sum, wild mushroom/pine nuts on lettuce leaves, chicken sate, steamed sea bass and french beans. Everything is well seasoned, full emphatic flavors. Great cocktails and the best of all, blue tea (not green or black) which was a real discovery. Desserts were fab as well (try chocolate/orange or the macaroons) Service is very professional and the design alluring. Didn't like the incense greeting at the door, but fortunately, it doesn't enter into the dining area. Overall, a great new haute Chinese newcomer to NY. Worth the wait!
