Domaine De Gravanel, Schistes 2006 small artisanal wine by a retired lawyer, near pezenas, in the languedoc region of france. grapes are all hand picked, small production and will have organic certification by next year. the wine was mentioned in the hachette wine guide (2007-2009) and grand guide des vins de france (bettane and desseauve 2008-09). maturation is long in stainless steel tanks, and the terroir is exceptional because of mineral quality of the soil layered with volcano basalt and shale (shistes means shale in french). the wine is fruity, yet invokes great complexity due to the mineral content of the terroir.
