    Tiny but good.

Small place, good food. Mostly japanese speakers eating - a good sign I think.

    CHEF TASTING MENU $42

Appetizer Avocado Tofu with wasabi and chef soy sauce (It came on a square wood tray. Smashed avocado was on the top of tofu in a white deep bowl. There was soy sauce in a small cute cup on the side to pour over with Wasabi. Avocado and soy sauce always works well for my palate but with tofu AND Wasabi was excellent. A touch of Wasabi really made this dish to shine. Sashimi Spicy Tuna Carpaccio with scallions and fried garlic chips, spicy mayonnaise (3 pieces of Tuna laid on a long oval earthy Japanese ware. I think I enjoyed more if this was chilled). Salad TONTON Salad shabu-shabu pork, mesclun, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, fried garlic (The sliced of pork were very thick for Sabu-shabu but it was juicy. The Miso dressing really worked well. Make sure to add the dressing that is on the side a little by little to find how salty you want. I made a mistake to add whole thing and it was too salty for me even). Fun Sushi Foie Gras Inari Sushi (The fatty FG on top of Inari Sushi was tasty. I though the rice portion was a bit too much for overall as a dish for me). Main Dish 12oz Roasted Pork Loin with crispy fried potato, homemade herb salt (I tasted just few pieces. They were good but not well executed. It was bit dry for how I like. The sweet black sauce on the side was needed. The baked cube cut potatoes needed salt & peppers that came with a saucer). Griled Miso Black Cod spicy miso sauce (I chose Cod. The fishy smelly small cod were buttery and I enjoyed as is. It didn't need Doenjang korean miso sauce. Dessert Today's Dessert Special (I am not so much of a dessert person but I enjoyed my bites of each. The Crème brûlée, cheese mousse with blueberry sauce and black sesame ice cream had layer after layer of taste. The beginning with "Wow!" to "humm..." and end with a huge smile.

    Very nice experience

My wife and I had a very nice meal here. The waitresses were extremely polite and almost as attentive. The shabu shabu hot pot was quite tasty and the portion of sliced pork was very generous. The restaurant is clean and simple, appropriate for "comfort food" I think. There was a nice mix of Japanese and non-Japanese clientele. We had a few appetizers, the hot pot, and one drink and got out of there for < $100. Not too shabby for Manhattan.

    Tasty food

Loved the hot pot broth, lobster fried rice and the duck salad. Not a fan of the collagen though because it was tasteless. The waitresses were very attentive and nice.

Very good and unique food, but long wait

The place is small. So the wait for seating was quite long. Best to make reservations in advance regardless any party size. The food was very delicious and unique. Pig's feet couldn't taste any better! However, it took some time for each dish to be served. Try the Tonsoku Gyoza, Grilled Tonsoku, Fried Rice Tonsoku w/ garlic.
