    So sweet!

Went here for 2nd time lastnight and had an amazing time again. The food is perfect for what it is. Traditional Cuban fare with a slight twist. The ropa vieja, unlike the pepper red sc standard was more brisket like and one of the most tender I've ever had. The aroz Vaneciana was also perfect, lots of seafood and a huge portion that myself and 2 friends shared. Tostonnes rellenos a bit over cooked and boring, empanadas rocked esp the chicken and the green sc that accompanies. You can't beat the vibe in this place. Live music and a guy upfront hand rolling cigars. (The gave us all one). Service can be slightly more attentive but that's only because it's so festive and they get a little sidetracked. Don't let this throw you off, just go and don't nitpick. The staff is super friendly and genuine. They want you to be happy and enjoy the party making for a great neighborhood placel. Viva Azucar!

    Hmm...not sure!

We were at Azucar for opening day so perhaps a bit of chaos is expected. The staff was very unprepared and did not really know the menu very well (what dishes came with, etc.) There were people everywhere dancing while the band played. Now for the food. I know Cuban food quite well and it was just okay. The vaca frita was tasty but the palomilla or at least what they call palomilla was nothing more than a thick sirloin steak with peppers on top? A real palomilla is a very thin long steak with some raw onions on top and lime. I'm sure this place will improve. I wont give up on it just yet. However, they do need a lunch menu and delivery.

I had the Pollo Guajira, which was absolutely fabulous! The outside of the chicken was a little tough, but this dish has an excellent mix of flavors with cheese, plantain and the white wine sauce. My friend had the Pollo Aljibe, which was light and also tasty (but mine was WAY better). The black beans are to die for.
