the food was good but the service was bad, the waiter had a dry attitude, never brought the requested spoon and never came to ask us if things were good.. never said thank you, he didn't picked the check. The worst part was when i complained to a lady that appear to be a manager or owner , she didn't care that her waiter gave a bad service. i wanted to get dessert and a soda but no one came to ask!

We are rpetty much regulars at guadeloupe. Service is spotty - sometimes lightning fast and attentive, sometimes completely hopeless (to the point you end up arguing about whether you really did order the wrong entree that they brought out!) but I would say 75% of the time it is fine! Food is nice, a little better than your basic Mexican fare. My only complaint was on the veggie burrito - it was made with broccoli, peas, carrots etc that I think were from a frozen bag and to me did not 'work'. However the shrimp and meat entrees are great. top choices are the snapper tacos for something light or the short ribs el diabolo with yummy garlic mash if you and hon-gry (or split it!) Cocktails are pretty good though I wish they would take the raspberry mojito off the menu, it was gorgeous but they have not served it for over 2 years, so it is quite tormenting that it is still on the menu! sunday bloody mary's are awesome - though have been disappointed by some of the brunch items Oh and I have no idea why the bathroom sinks are filled with apples or lemons. But whatever. The place certainly has it's own style!!! I am glad Guadeloupe is in our neighborhood!

I supposed this place has changed quite a bit since some of the other reviews below. I recently moved to the Inwood area and was in search for a few key places. I accidentally came across Guadalupe and I absolutely LOVED it. The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing and best of all- the service was incredible. I was incredibly satisfied and looked forward to more visits in the future. I went back again and was still impressed with the food, service and overall environment. I recommend this restaurant to anyone and look forward to visiting again.

Went for brunch yesterday. The Chicken Mexicana was incredible. And the price was just as incredible. $12.95 including a cocktail. Would definetly recommend this to anyone.

Food - 4 stars, Service - 0 stars. Some friends and I had dinner here in December 2008. It was a pleasant find for the neighborhood. Decor was cozy and low key. Unfortunately, the service left a LOT to be desired. The restaurant was more than half empty, and my party was one of the first to arrive. We were seated at 7:30 and did not receive our entrees until almost 10 PM! After waiting almost an hour for our food, and realizing that the parties all around us had received theirs, (they arrived after us), we asked the waiter where our food was. We watched the chef inside the kitchen twiddle his thumbs for the past hour. Turns out, our order was never even delivered, and he blamed the computer. The fact that the order was written down didn't seem to matter. He took our order again. You would think that the manager or waiter would at least comp a beverage, dessert or send an appetizer for the wait, but he didn't. We had to ask for water refills several times. I asked for more salsa and chips, to which I received an eye roll. I had to ask for it again a few times before the runner gave me a rude "it's over there", indicating the other side of the restaurant. (If it was ready, and the table had not seen any service for over an hour, what was he waiting for?) It just added insult to injury. I had a great grilled corn appetizer and short rib entree. The chips with the corn salsa was a nice alternative to the tomato kind one usually gets. The Vera Cruz margarita hit the spot. I REALLY wanted to like this restaurant. This neighborhood needs more cute places. However, the impression I left with was that the staff just doesn't care about business or customers. Doesn't exactly make me want to come back does it?

I really wanted to love this place, as there are so few restaurants in the neighborhood. When they first opened, they were decent, and I have had occasional adequate meals there, but the food is inconsistent and the service is consistently poor. The last time I went we were one of only two table in the place, and our server forgot to put our order in. He didn't remember until 1/2 hour later, when we were sitting at the table staring at him while he was hanging out chatting with the cooks. I've been many times, in the hopes that they will get it together, but my patience has run out.
