Yum!
This is just amazing gelato! I would stick with the creamier sounding flavors though (chocolates, coffee, egg cream, etc). Their green tea flavor is quite outstanding. The fruity flavors didn't taste as good. These cost more than even your usual overpriced treats at $5.25 a small that gives either a medium sized scoop of one flavor, or a small scoop each of two flavors.

Incredible!
Best gelato I have ever had. You can really taste the fresh ingredients. Most of the negative reviews are due to the cost - it is appropriate to pay for quality. For those who can't taste the difference, buy the cheaper stuff from the supermarket. For me, the taste experience and treat is definitely worth the expense!

Go to your local grocery store instead
What can I say... Grom is fine but you can get a pint of gelato or sorbet for the cost of a tiny cup here. I don't think it tastes better than any random gelato stand or pre-packaged ice cream from a supermarket.

Nope
I am always happy to hear about a new "gelato" shop, and the only flavor by which I judge the gelato's quality is nocciola (hazelnut). The texture of the hazelnut at Grom resembled sawdust, and the gelato was far too cold and had an icy feel. They keep the place looking like a laboratory with the gelato hidden in steel containers under the countertop. It was very bizarre and annoying because I couldn't see the flavors. Granted, I only tried vanilla and hazelnut, but those were enough to send me out the store without buying anything. Plus, the counter area is crammed, and their wooden sign fell on me (left a bruise for three weeks). So the store could benefit from a more open and organized layout.

Really not worth all the hubub
The people behind Grom are really trying way too hard to convince you of how great their gelato is by cramming a list of ingredients and their noble origins down your throat and into your eyeballs. The milk comes from beautifully treated cows, the eggs come from the nicest most civil chickens from a hillside in a charming all organic town in Italy and the trees from where the nuts come are planted in paradise and blah blah blah. It all seems like the highschool cheerleader who tries too hard to be liked with no real substance. The ice cream is fine but for the price and all the noise they make, I better be having a culinary orgasm when I eat the 5 dollar scoop not thinking: "A baskin Robins Pralines and cream scoop would be just as good" Bottom line:It's nice that they are being environmentally conscious and all. It's great that they only use the best ingredients but seriously, you can use stuff made and grown in the garden of Eden and I would only care if the end result was mind blowing, which in this case it is no where near that. in other words, I think this pig would be much cuter and more acceptable without all that unnecessary lipstick.

Extraordinary
Definitely worth the trip and the additional expense. The gelatos are just exquisitely rich and well balanced. Flavors such as gianduja, zabayone and hazelnut just seduce the tongue. The only other place that comes even close to GROM in NYC is the Argentinian gelateria "Cones" down on Bleeker St. The sorbets aren't bad but not exceptional in the manner of the gelato. Note that flavors change every month

Amazing
This is the best Gelateria in Manhattan. Highly recommend the gianduja.
