Good pizza, but not great
My boyfriend and I waited outside Grimaldi's for at least an hour and a half on a Saturday afternoon in the spring. It was a beautiful day and we didn't have anywhere else we had to be, so we didn't mind too much. That being said, I wouldn't repeat the experience. While the pizza is certainly good, I don't think it's worth such a long wait. I also found the service very rushed once we were inside, which I thought was kind of unfair considering how long and how patiently everyone had waited. It's a New York experience that perhaps everyone should try once, but there are better pizza places in the city.

Plenty of better Pizza in NYC with lesser attitude!
Went for dinner tonight at 9:30 and the place was a third empty. We were seated at a corner table for two which was a bit clautrophobic for us. When we enquired about the other empty tables, we were told we could not be accomodated there. Those tables remained empty throughout the rest of our meal there. When it was time for the check, I was told that this was a cash only place which was ok by me. When the bill came, there were some scribblings there in addition to the food and beverage charges and taxes. When the I asked what it was, I was told, very matter of factly, that there was a $5.50 charge added automatically to my $30 bill and it was the service charge! I asked him why they would add it to a party of two and that too a presumptive 18% -- he said that's how they do it there. To which I persisted and said that at no place on their menu card did they mention that they would add a gratuity to a party of any size. He made the nastiest face that I had ever had the fortune of witnessing after an average meal and scratched out the charge in front of me with in the most disgusting attitude. I did end up leaving a generous tip for the waiter but I'd rather have had that choice left to me and not dictated. There's better Pizza out there in NYC! Avoid this if you want a Pizza without the fuss.

Service
The greeter told us, party of 4, that we had to wait outside in the freezing cold because 2 other people were ahead of us. The other people had chosen to wait outside and there was ample room for us to wait inside. My son told him that we had no intention of standing in the freezing cold so we were allowed to wait in the tiny entrance way. When we were served the pizza was edible but by no means would I consider it good. Over priced! We were rushed to leave before we even finished our drinks. Would never go there again.

Just good
The pizza is good but overrated.I guess if your from Iowa it`s the best.I can name at least a dozen other pizza joints with a much better pie.Not worth the wait in my opinion.

Service is wretched- and now they have the gall to tell you to wait in line to order a pizza to take out, and cash only, after all these years- once you sit down to eat , the service is not any better, and the pizza is just not that great, sometimes the crust is burnt. the hype is definitely not worth it - I have eaten there many times, but will not eat there again

Decent pizza, not service
Last time I went here the man who stands in the front completely ruined the whole experience for me and a few friends who were visiting from out of town. He was rude to us the moment we came in, for no apparent reason at all. He yelled at my friend for sitting down at the wrong end of the long table he was sitting us at (he only pointed at it, how were we supposed to know?). On top of that, a friend came by to surprise us (he saw our check-in on Foursquare) and he shouted at us for telling him the wrong amount of people when we first came in. He then threatened to kick us out if we "misbehaved" again. It was upsetting as I planned this great evening with my friends whom I rarely see, but instead had the whole night ruined. For as long as this man is alive, I will NOT go back to Grimaldi's. FYI - I've been here a couple times and the pizza is hit or miss. Sometimes it's good, other times as burnt as charcoal. Simply not worth it.

Good Pizza
The pizza here is very good, but the line to get in is very long. At times, my pizza has had a soggy crust. At other times the crust is done perfectly. Wish the consistency of the pizza matched that of the line out the door.
