Should be so much better
I was excited to try this restaurant as I heard they had a good brunch and several vegetarian/vegan options. We walked in on a Saturday night at about 8:10 pm. Looking into the restaurant and even once inside, it looked completely empty. We were taken to a table towards the back of the restaurant. If I wasn't with someone who'd been there before, I probably would've left - it's not a great sign to be empty at this time of the night. However, there were a handful of people seated in the back. I thought it strange to seat them all out of view. Anyway, I ordered the Vegan Stew. It had no seasoning, and the portion was tiny. It didn't have any kale (which was listed as one of the first ingredients) and just three leaves of spinach. It was also ridiculously priced at $20. It was basically an unseasoned small soup bowl filled with beans. It was something I would expect from a can of Progresso, but the Progresso would've at least been seasoned. Did I mention it was $20? I left hungry and felt completely taken.

Great local food & kid friendly
After walking by this restaurant numerous times, I finally stopped in last weekend. The manager was so accommodating of our double stroller (twins!) and the staff really made us feel welcome. But the best part was that our dinner was great - enough so that I decided to go back a few days later sans kids to try their breakfast with a friend. Again, the service and quality of food exceeded my expectations. Give it a try if you haven't already.

Real food
When I found out that they cook their fries in grass-fed beef fat I rejoiced! Would that vegan prefer gmo canola or gmo soybean oil instead? This is the best possible place to go in south midtown. This place is amazing...go, go now. Amazing values for lunch as well.

Good but....
Greensquare Tavern is a really cute place and the service was great during our lunch yesterday. The server was so friendly. My complaint is that Greensquare Tavern fries their french fries in beef fat - yuck. Please change that. Your veggie burger is really good, and would be even better if one could get a side of french fries w/their veggie burger. I mean, burger and fries go well together, yes? Why offer a veggie burger, that you label as "vegan", and then only have french fries cooked in beef fat? Weird.

Great Choice
Been here a few times; the atmosphere is comfortable, the food was delicious and the servers were very friendly. They offer humane meats, vegetarian and vegan options which were great for a big group. They also use fresh, high quality ingredients and a reasonable price.

Needs to be better...
The name of this place is actually Greenmarket Tavern so the title should be fixed. But recently I dined here for lunch and while the food was good, the service was ridiculously slow. Tables that got seated after us were served before us. Unacceptable. They need to work on that. And if you sit in the back and it's crowded...expect it to be very loud.
