Beware, NYU students seeking cheap eats.
My suitemate and I decided to try this place out. Employee who answered the phone for our takeout order was unhelpful and rude. The restaurant itself is located in a hard to see area above street level. The dining area is nothing more than a few chairs and tables thrown together next to the display window. Their vegetables were wilting, discolored, and most certainly unsafe for consumption. Eat at your own risk.

Deteriorating Quality
I take back my pervoius review. This place is going downhill!

Unpleasant experience
It was late evening and my pregnant wife suddenly wanted egg rolls. Great Wall was the only place to deliver at that hour. We got couple egg rolls, hot and sour soup, vegetable dumplings, and kung-pao chicken. My girl's craving couldn't make up for subpar food: rolls were overfried, soup was cold and looked unappetizing, dumplings smelled funny, and there was no chicken in chicken just sauce and fried cover.

To be fair about Great Wall
The food here is pretty good for a take out joint. it is not the best in the financial district. They do have decent food at good prices, especially their lunch/dinner specials. The reviewer below must have really caught them on a bad day. It should also be noted that they are under new management and have a new cook. I believe the food has improved as of late.

What did the other reviewers eat?
I'm relatively new to the area and was looking around this site, hoping to find a good Chinese place based on reviews. I decided on Great Wall. If the reviews saying this is the best Chinese food in the financial district are true, then I think I may never get Chinese take out down here again. I literally never review, but I was prompted by Great Wall. I got the Sesame Chicken dinner special ($7.75-- the menu on the website has all the prices wrong) with white rice and an egg roll then an extra pint of wonton soup. The special no longer comes with soup like the menu on this site says, but I was already set on it when I ordered. Plus, I thought I needed something to bring me over $6.50 for the delivery minimum. The first thing I did when I got the food was eat the egg roll. When I took it out, I noticed it looked a little greasy, but I didn't think it was a big deal. Then I took a bite and there was literally so much grease and oil that it shot out of the bottom of the egg roll when I bit down and went all over me. I could only eat about half, with a napkin underneath to catch the grease, before I became disgusted and threw it out. Next I went for the soup. The broth was good, but the noodles were hard and the meat inside the wonton was practically non-existant. I didn't eat that either. Finally, was the chicken. The broccoli was barely cooked and one spear didn't even look fresh. The rice was good. The chicken itself though was cooked to the point that it was rubbery. There were parts I could barely chew and the sauce was thick to the point of it being some type of goo. Needless to say, I didn't finish that either and I ended up making dinner myself, which I really should have done in the first place. Overall review: Try anywhere else. I'm new here so I don't know where yet. But there has to be better Chinese food than this in the financial district.

Good Chinese Food
The best Chinese food place I've found downtown. While this place is still very reasonable and you get a lot of food for your money, their prices have increased recently. Still well worth it though.

Best Chinese in the Financial District
I had ordered from about 5 different Chinese places in the area and this is by far the ebst. The food tastes great, even when you are reheating 2 days later! I have never eaten in the restaraunt only had take out but it has always been good. Highly recommend!
