Great NY Noodletown

This food was absolutely delicious! I went here on a hot day in the mid afternoon, so luckily the place was pretty empty. We ordered the soup with shrimp dumplings and noodles which was so great and totally worth it, even though it was hot out. The shrimp was so tender and fresh, the broth was perfectly salty, and the noodles were a delicious addition. Next we had the duck and pork over rice which was incredibly tasty. The duck was tender and succulent and the roast pork was perfectly prepared. Then we shared the panfried noodles with chicken and black bean sauce which was very tasty and the shrimps with flowering chives which was also delicious. Everything looked so good, and all of our food came out fast, and tasted fresh and full of flavor. I am dreaming of it just thinking about it! And it ended up only being $10 per person! I would definitely recommend this place for good basic chinese.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC, and my favorite Chinese. I recommend the "Beef with Noodle with Vegatable". It was recommended to me by a Chinese person, and I have in turn recommended it to other Chinese people who love it! Taiwanese and Hong Kong people know their food! And, they all love it. I live in Japan now, and the only choice I have is to fly to Hong Kong. If you live in NYC, all you have to do is take the subway. Don't think- go.

I've traveled from all lengths to get that soup in all kinds of weather. DELICIOUS. And still worth it.

I was hungry with 2 young kids in Chinatown and came across this place and decided to try it. The kids had some standards (chicken lo mein and fried rice) and they were quite good. I had the wonton noodle soup, which was excellent and hit the spot on a cold day. Also had the pork and duck on rice and an order of the chinese broccoli. Everything, particularly the roast pork, was very tasty. The bill was ridiculously cheap and we had tons of leftovers to take home. The waiters were very nice, despite the fact that the kids were a bot rambunctious. Would definitely return.

I have been going here for years and years. I rediscovered it when I moved to Gramercy and saw I was a short bus ride down 3rd Ave then the Bowery for the best wonton soup and pork chow fun you can have anywhere! Yup, the decor ain't so hot (I don't go to any chinese restaurant in Chinatown for the decor) but the food is the best.

My husband ordered the duck and chicken over rice. Meat was spectacular!! I got the pork with noodle soup. Very tasty. We loved not only our own food, but wanted to try everything we saw on other tables. A popular place and we now know why. We are planning on going again next time we're in the city to try some of their wide noodle dishes that looked so good! Atmosphere is wanting in this little hole-in-the-wall place, but there were lots of waitstaff and we were there for the FOOD anyway!!

First, in response to the review by 'Anonymous' below - This is an unpretentious restaurant that serves great food. That's it. The decor wasn't good? Get a clue, it's a noodle shop in the heart of chinatown, not Cipriani. Anyhow, everything here is excellent. Their softshell crabs are absolutely out of this world, the duck is top-notch, the noodles are excellent, and some of the more obscure items, such as 'beef muscle', etc, are very very good. This is no-nonsense, authentic, basic stuff that is prepared well, and tastes great. I've been going here for over 10 years, and it's never disappointed me. Also, they're open til 4am. Gotta love it.
