    Best brunch ever!

Fun, hip, dive. Brunch is the best deal ever. $13 for a huge portion, coffee and oj. I love that every order comes with cornbread, grits or a biscuit. Go on a lazy hungover sunday--the grease and excellent bloody mary's will work wonders!

    Always great every time

The food here is consistently excellent. The fishes are good, the wings have an amazing sauce I haven't tasted anywhere else, the vegetables are perfect, and the tiny salads have a perfect dressing on them. The juke box plays has lots of Chess Records blues on it. I love it very much.

    Down south

My father's side of the family is from down south - true southeren and I remember when I was little all of the delicious southern food my aunts made for me - upon moving to Manhattan a college buddy introduced me to the Great Jones now it is a place I frequent when I want to relish is delicious childhood memories. Go here for the food and drink people everything else like others have said are hit or miss.

    Great Jones - still Great

No reservations, seating as available - their rules, follow them. Food is too good and too cheap to really care about spending 1/2 hour at the bar drinking killer drinks to be upset. Crawfish Jumbalaya and Jalapeno cornbread are two of the best things in Manhattan. Their Hurricanes are also deceptively strong - drink more than one at your own risk. Go early, drink up, order stuff you've never heard of, and have a good time. It's a dive fer Christsake - but the food is awesome.

    Soooo good

I'm an ex-southern--but been in manhattan for 10 years. So I know real southern cooking and I know good food; This place has both. The gumbo is excellent, so is the red beans and rice. Actually my family and I have thoroughly enjoyed everything we've had. Don't expect fancy, this is a real southern hole-in-the-wall. I'm afraid if more people find out about it, there will never be a seat!

    Rude service

I'm a fan of Great Jones Cafe no more. After bragging about this place for months, I took people here and waited about 40 minutes for a table for 4 to open up. When it opened up, 3 members of our party of 4 were there, with the fourth walking down the block on the phone telling us they were 30 seconds away. The waitress refused to seat us because our fourth person was not "there" - even though we bought numerous drinks during our 40 minute wait. Then, in an apparent effort to spite us, they seated a party of 3 at the table we had waited for just as our fourth person walked in the door. We paid the bar tab and left.

    Hit or miss

I was expecting great crawdads, but they were just ok. I didn't bother finishing them. The vodka lemonade (at bargain at 5.50) made me care less about the small unimpressive crawdads. The burgers are good and the sweet potato fries are delish! Servers are nice, but not the fastest or most observant. I don't get the hype.
