Not what it used to be
While Gray's still serves a decent frank, 2 franks and a drink will set you back $5.00. What makes no sense is the $.50 extra for relish while onions & kraut are free. Still, it's a part of New York that is unique. Like the smell under the boardwalk in Coney Island.

Downhill!
I used to like going here years ago but over the past year or so, I rarely stop in. I really believe the dogs here have gone downhill. Besides that, they raised the prices last year which they call "Recession Special" and its basically in line for any other place.

Going back 4 more
We heard of Gray's Papaya in a 1997 movie and visited NYC in 2006 and made it a point to go to GRay's. Very good dogs for the price. It's worth it if you're curious. We are going back to NYC later this month and can't wait to visit Gray's Papaya again!

It was okay.
I went there based on the info here. Its looked like southeast asian atmosphere. The taste? Just an ordinary one. But its cost performance and 24hr-operation are great.

C'mon now people
I know we all went this to be our "fast food guilty pleasure", but really.... any Jewish deli in town will serve up a better hot dog, and pricewise- not all that different anymore. $1.50 for those little things? $4.50 for two and a drink? Walk a block to Utopia diner, spend $10, and for goodness sakes- eat real food!

Is That All There Is?
I stopped in here during a recent visit based on the reviews here. I have to say, I think their dogs are seriously over-rated. Not that they were bad, just nothing special. I don't know about other hot dog joints in NYC, but I've certainly had plenty better in other places. And, while it was my first experience with papaya juice, it seemed bland to me. The Recession Special was a good value though, and the guys working there are quick and efficient. Oh well, live and learn. For me, not worth a return trip.

great dogs
These hot dogs are great and a bargain. This is a great place for lunch when you are just wandering around New York.
