Great Food, Wine & Atmosphere.....Very Poor Service

I had an 8pm reservation at Grape & Grain on a Wednesday night with 2 friends. Our table was ready when we got their and our waitress quickly asked us if we would like a drink. We had a delicious bottle of Malbec for only $30! After our drink and appetizer order our waitress seemed to have forgotten about us! We were very frustrated and disappointed in the service because this place has so much potential! The food was delicious, we had soft pretzels with pickles & mustard and 2 pizzas which were both equally scrumptious. I recommend going if you have a lot of patience.

Most romantic wine bar -- and great food!

I loved the atmosphere when we went for a Friday dinner-- very dark and intimate, with flickering candles, and lots of warmth coming from great conversation and a collection of people just glad to be there. It's a special thing to find. Everything we ordered was fantastic -- a portobello salad, the chartcuterie board, the short ribs, and a cheese plate. It all came with big plates of delicious bread. The wine was a great deal -- $9-$12 for a quarto, which was really 2 glasses. The waiter was covering all the tables solo, and yet still managed to provide great service. The one negative was when the bill came -- $120 for a few small plates and 2 quartos of wine each -- but that was the result of over-ordering food and not paying attention to the prices as much as anything. It was a wonderful, relaxing evening, with lots of pleasant suprises. I'll remember to tell my friends that I've found the perfect spot for their next date to impress.

    great neighborhood joint

This is a good spot in the neighborhood for wine and grabbing a bite to eat. The place is dimly lit and has a relaxed environment- weeknights are less crowded and your best bet.

Group of seven all had an amazing time

We had a group of seven friends who got together for a night of drinks, food and fun! G and G was amazing! Their was a private party at the restaurant so, we were in the private room next door and we sat at the long table in the center. The server/bartender was friendly and very helpful with meal and drink suggestions. I would recommend this place for a group of friends or for a date.

Recommended for the food, not service

I had to try this cute little wine/tapas bar. The atmosphere is very inviting with the wood banquettes and nice wrap around bar with open windows. I would recommend the meatballs, they were excellent and they had multiple bottles of good wine around $35. However, the only bad part of the night was the service...it was really poor. I mean almost "ignored" poor. Which surprised me because it didn't even seem packed. The waitress/bartender looked like we were annoying her to order a second bottle of wine, to order food etc. I even had to walk up to the bar to get the check. If it's so busy and popular there should have been another person waiting on the tables. It was also bizzare she mentioned she had to go next door to get beer, perhaps the management/ownership should think of a better method. It would be a wonderful place if not for the dissapointing service.

    A great deal

Great deal on good value wine. The food is great (the pigs in a poncho are awesome) and the sandwiches are great. Great for a date late night.
