good food cannot stand the girl!

I was happy to be able to find a place that served good italian dishes and good pizza. However the young lady that answers the phone is completely obnoxious and an idiot. You have to repeat your information about three times...if you could get past that then it's a good place.

    Great Food, Obnoxious Service

I love the food from this place, although it probably seems somewhat better than it actually is because the competition in this neighborhood is virtually nonexistent - I've lived in NYC all my life, but never in a hood with such a depressing array of restaurants. Anyway, while I do like their pizza and subs quite a lot, the service is consistently, ridiculously bad. EVERYONE who answers the phone there seems like they can barely stand to be bothered with customers. Being put on hold for extended periods is the norm, as is being hung up on while on hold, and having to repeat yourself numerous times when they finally get around to actually taking your order. If I weren't so desperate for decent takeout in this neighborhood, I would never want to give these guys any business. As it is, I order from them much less than I would if they had someone decent answering the phone - and I'm sure I'm not alone. If you can stand the rude service, once in a while the food is worth dealing with it.

    Ditto the Other Reviews

Was shocked to log on here and see everyone had the same issues as me! Ditto re girl on phone rude and ditto re delivery problems. Also they never put the little plastic thing in the box and the box comes smashed down onto the pizza. We called after it became repetitive.

    good deal but rude

When I first started ordering from Grandpa's I thought it was a good deal and I always went in to order the food and bring it home. Then I started getting the food delivered and the girl who takes the order is RUDE. I asked her to explain what they included in the supreme (who would have thought PINEAPPLE) and she hung up on me - twice! I finally got her to take my order (I went with the chicken roll which was good). So the food was really good but the service over the phone sucks (they're super nice if you go in and they have to deal with you face to face). Then they raised their prices. I can get a chicken roll in mid town for less than what they are charging here! Rude, no longer a good $$ value, but still the best pizza in the neighborhood.

    Delivery

I love their food, but i feel like i have to fight with the delivery girl who takes my order just to order what i want - she either doesn't know what something is or doesn't know if they have it. They don't have a big menu, it shouldn't be too hard to know what's on it. Also, I always get the vegetable stromboli (which is really good) but ask for an extra sauce (which is .50 cents extra, but worth it). They have forgotten it twice, so the last time this happened I called, and they acted astounded that i would want them to bring me the extra sauce since it was only 50 cents. I actually wound up apologizing to the guy on the phone because they made me feel so guilty about having them bring me the correct order. The thing is.... the food is sooo good that i'll go through the agonizing process of ordering, etc... time and time again even if it is a chore. Find me another place up here with food this good and better delivery and i'll order from there.

    2 hours for Delivery

We waited 2 hours for our pizza to be delivered.... After four calls from 1hr on, (we were told it would just be 10min more each time). the pizza finally came. It was hot and delicious, but how can a pizza that supposedly got out of the oven 1 hr ago be hot??? They need to get their act together... Good pizza, but not worth the hassle..

Like the grandpa I never had

To get a decent slice this far north may prove to be a bit challenging, Grandpa's delivers a classic brick oven slice with a well spiced sauce and exceptional crust. Their veggie style was unique with fried eggplant amongst other fresh toppings. Well worth the cost. I highly recommend Grandpas.
