Grandpa's Brick Oven Pizza
Posted by Jenn on 02/04/2015
My mother lives right near Grandpa's and whenever I go to visit her we order their chicken parmesan. Obviously there are restaurants that serve higher quality food but for a pizza/restaurant it is delicious! The portions are huge which is great since you'll have leftovers and their sauce is to die for. I recently went in and got a plain slice (which is unusual for me, i prefer white slices) but it was so good I could barely wait for it to cool down! I have worked in a pizzeria and I have to say that i would gladly travel from the UWS to see my mother just to get a bite from them!

I will admit that the pizza is decent (for Washington heights that is). However, it is not worth it. Highly overpriced. Extremely rude staff. Terribly long wait.

After moving to Inwood two years ago, my husband and I were so happy to find Grandpa's. We had never been to the actual location, but ordered a margherita pizza for delivery one Sunday and have never looked back. It is delicious, with truly fresh mozzarella and basil. We now have a tradition of ordering it almost every week on Sundays, and the employees know us by our order. We have only ordered the margherita pizza and on occasion the mozzarella sticks (clearly creatures of habit), so I cannot speak to other items on the menu or the atmosphere since we only have it delivered, but it's the best pizza in the neighborhood and one of my favorites in all of NYC.

If you order at the height of the dinner rush you will wait on hold to place your order, and you can wait up to an hour to get the pizza. A vicious cycle will commence. You will order from their competition in protest. You will be disappointed with the food quality of the competition's food. You will then go back to Grandpa's pizza and order again. Best advice i can give, is to order not during rush times. It is worth the wait.

The pizza is pretty good, but they make you hold for about 15 minutes before before waiting another hour for your pizza #comeonman

I have ordered from here for the past few years and do really like it. It isn't cheap, but the food is good. The garlic bread with mozzarella is really good, the lasagna and baked ziti are great too. The delivery time is usually an hour, so if you expect it, then you will be fine.

OK. I have been to numerous restaurants, and diners, but never had the most delicious cheesburger deluxe that i had from Grandpa's in inwood. I have to tell you. I have been a resident here for the last year, and just started ordering from this place. Number one, the girl that answers the phone is very polite. Secondly their fries are to die for. Very happy everytime i order from this establishment.
