    Do not order

I just got my food and I took 2 bites and threw it out. I ordered the chicken in garlic sauce and it was overly greasy and not tasty at all. So disappointed. I had heard of this spot and wanted to try it- well, at least I know not to order from here again. Oh well. On to the next Chinese food place in Chelsea...

    Absolutely Disgusting

Having just moved to west Chelsea, I randomly chose this restaurant based on the decent reviews and close proximity to my apartment. WORST decision I ever made. The food was basically inedible. General Tso's chicken consisted of fried MSG and salt with a tiny piece of psuedo-chicken within it (even though I requested white meat). Shrimp dumplings came in a soup-y cup with greasy sauce and all 8 dumplings were attached to each other in a blob. I have never been so grossed out by a chinese food order, and I am by no means an expert in chinese food. Do yourself a favor and NEVER go here.

    Service

Made simple order for 2 small soups and sesame shrimp. Though we are vegetarians that also eat fish, we are usually easy to please. Delivery took an hour on a sunday night. When items delivered we were starving and dug in. Unfortunately when diving into the sesame shrimp, we discovered they delivered us sesame chicken instead. Called to request that we have a replacement sent with the correct item. Women began raising her voice and demanding that I ordered chicken. Calmly I explained that we don't eat chicken so would not have ordered. She began yelling and offered to send replacement, but we need to pay $3 difference and would take an hour. After the shouting, I was very frustrated and said just to send some one with a refund and we'd just return the food. Still waiting for the refund over 45 minutes later. Called and they said it would be another hour to just get our money back. We used to like this place, but after this treatment and the worst customer service ever, they have lost our business. You've been warned.

    Great food, but bad service

They have probably the best Chinese food in Manhattan. Even better than Chinatown places. But the service can use a bit of improvement.

    Great Food, Spare Settings

On the positive side, this is almost certainly among the top 10% of Chinese restaurants in the city based on its large and varied menu, the quality of prep, and the fact that it more closely reflects real Sichuan cuisine than 95% of the "Sichuan" places in the city. Well worth a visit and I've gone back a few times. The minuses are that this is set up as a neighborhood Chinese restaurant with very basic furniture and settings, and staff who are not unfriendly but who could just as soon be working at the DMV. Go for the food and not for the atmosphere.

    exceptionally good sichuan

Honestly, I think the reviewer below ate at a different restaurant. (Or works at one.) This is one of the best sichuan places in Manhattan: spicy, authentic, and delicious. Avoid the "american-style chinese" section of the menu, and aim for gui zhou chicken, dan dan noodles, sour long beans with minced pork, chicken with chinese broccoli -- all excellent. as for the service: suck it up. they're fine. it's not le bernadin, and they've never messed up my delivery in over 5 years of orders.

    Worst Chinese food ever.

This is the first review I have ever written for menu pages, but I felt I had to warn people about this restaurant. Let me start by saying that I am by no means a food Chinese food snob. I have eaten some dirty, nasty Chinese food before. I'm talking about deep Brooklyn, bullet proof glass type of places. This place is the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten by far. We ordered to very different kind of dishes. One a chicken and vegetable dish, and one pork and noodle dish. Both disgusting. My chicken was basically fried cornstarch covered in salt and MSG. I''m not sure there was any chicken in the actual dish. The noodles were slimy and the pork tasted old an gamy. Seriously, avoid this place at all costs. You would be better of licking a sidewalk covered in salt and MSG than eating here.
