nothing short of amazing
After much anticipation, I made a reservation for my parents and I to dine at GT and after dining at many fine restaurants in New York, I can officially declare a favorite. From start to finish every bite and sip of my meal was perfection! And that is saying a lot because I am incredibly picky. The host was warm and our waiter was very friendly as was anyone else I walked past. I ordered the smoked trout since that is what seemed to be the hot item on the menu and I am glad I did. The delicately cooked fish literally melted in my mouth and the flavors were so happy and pleasant. For my entree I ordered the sirloin and braised flat iron (and I've never been keen on red meats) but this too melted in my mouth! The braised meat was so so flavorful and smooth and the combination of the two cuts was wonderful. The chocolate bread pudding was absolutely decadent, rich, and the hints of bittersweet chocolate kicked in at the right moments to keep it from being too sweet. I have to come back here again soon!

Best Restaurant in NYC!
My husband and I went here for our 1 year anniversary. We had such a nice time. The service was incredible and the food was amazing. We haven't been to a restaurant yet in NY with such impeccable service. I would highly recommend this place, it was definitely worth the money!

As good as it gets
I simply think this is the finest restaurant in the U.S. They use the finest ingredients and prepare them with care. It may not be the most creative menu in the city, but everything on the menu tastes really good. Service is impeccable. I almost feel like I've been invited over to a good friend's home for dinner each time I arrive. The room is beautiful, classic and timeless. The wine list is superb, and reasonably priced. All in all, I think the Tavern room is the best value of any restaurant in NYC. If you haven't been there, I strongly encourage you to give it a try.

As Wonderful as I dreamed it would be!
I've lived in the neighborhood for many years and never until tonight set foot in Gramercy Tavern. What a delight. My party and I ate in the Tavern. Although we had to wait a considerable amount of time, the staff was kind, patient, helpful, and accommodated our every move this evening. We arrived as a large party for Tavern seating around 7:30, knowing we may have a substantial wait ahead of us. We enjoyed our time at the bar and were eventually seated. After drinks and bread at our long awaited table, a larger space opened, and the staff offered to move us there. We happily accepted the kind offer. Our appetizers were perfection. I had the Chicken Liver which was smooth as silk, the thick buttered toasted bread that accompanied it was perfected, the picked garnish was a delight and a half. When I ran out of bread for my liver, I was offered a fresh batch, which I declined in preparation for my entree... For my main course I had the Arctic Char, which was so tender, so flavorful, so layered with sheer deliciousness I saved every bite. My dinner mates had the pork, kilbasea, and stuffed meatball. Everyone enjoyed their own meal as much as I enjoyed mine. I sit here in my home writing this now thinking of all the surprises of flavor and taste my dinner held, the mussles, the potatoes, the crisp flavors my undefined palate can't quite pin point - the meal was a sheer pleasure of the mouth. For dessert I had the chocolate pudding. As a Chocolate lover, I was not let down by this creamy treat topped with thick whipped cream and teased with savory carmelized croutons. I literally sit here trying to justify just how quickly I can go back to the tavern. This was a treat well worth waiting for, I'm so delighted to have finally dined in this Gramercy establishment and greatly look forward to next meal at this very special table.

Perfect
I ate a Gramercy Tavern last night for the first time, and all I have to say is that I was blown away. Service was perfect from the second I walked threw the door. I didn't meet any employee who wasn't a pleasure to talk to. Our server was super knowledgeable and helped guide us threw every course in terms of wine and wonderful descriptions; not to mention his fun, friendly and joking personality. Down to the Table being bussed, I couldn't find an error. From beginning to end, service was Flawless. In terms of food, every dish was fresh, clean, and perfect. Some of the lightest proteins I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. The Smoked-to-order trout was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever been exposed to.. texturally mind-blowing. Black bass was threw the roof as well...almost a touch of Indian or middle eastern flavor profile there. It was unexpected and completely welcome. Lamb was the most tender I've ever tried, and pork loin/belly dish was perfectly done. Amuse bouche was super engaging, soups were fun and interesting, cheeses were threw the roof and desert was perfectly balanced with a Commandaria Paring. I couldn’t find one complaint about anything. Every protein was cooked perfectly and every dish was conceptually 100% on point. Well balanced, friendly use of acids, and, most importantly, delicious. I went to this restaurant expecting a lot and couldn’t have been more impressed. It was certainly my premiere dinning experience in New York and my only complaint is that the evening had to come to an end. Gramercy Tavern lives up to its name without a doubt and I will undoubtedly be returning at my soonest convenience. Thank you

The Best Restaurant
I'm not sure where these people who gave negative reviews ate but it wasn't Gramercy Tavern. Oh my goodness I swear I went to heaven and back eating at this exquisite restaurant. We had the lobster and lamb with pappardelle appetizers , guinea hen and sea bass entrees and chocolate bread pudding and 3 cheeses for dessert. In total, this was one of the best culinary delights I've ever experienced. The appetizers were buttery, melt in your mouth dishes. The entrees were absolutely to die for and the desserts were rich and a perfect end to a perfect evening. Do get the cranberry daiquiri and pear cocktails. You've never tasted such a medley of sensations in your mouth. This restaurant is absolute perfection and I can't wait to go back!

Best in Town
We dine around the world and we compare Gramercy to everyone else. Food is amazing. Went to the Dining Room. Had not been in some time, but its as good as ever. They seem to have done a little makeover too with new lighting. The no reservation area has great food and you dont have to hump thru hoops to get in with the 4 weeks in advance stuff.
